Moving Helps Music Make More Sense
Funded Apr 2, 2013Thank you all for donating to my project and helping me to provide a rich educational environment for my students. I wish I was able to adequately capture how the faces of my students lit up when I pulled out the parachute for the first time. It was truly a priceless moment.
Each of the items that you helped to purchase has allowed my students internalize abstract concepts, like keeping a steady beat, or how to feel the space between the notes. From the bean bags and parachute to the poly spots, my students now have the ability to visualize and experience musical concepts through their bodies and their ears. By integrating both modalities of learning, we ask students to think more critically and to really develop an deep understanding of the concept... often without their even knowing!!!
Thank you for thinking so much of me and my students. In a world that often devalues creativity and the arts in school, your investment helps to show others just how imperative these areas to the learning and full development of a child.”

Ms. Tierney
Boomwhackers!! The Fun You'll Have in Music Class
Funded Mar 19, 2013I can't even begin to thank you all enough for your generous donations. Over the last several weeks, have begun to integrate our new Boomwhackers into our music curriculum. The impact has been incredible. My students, across almost all levels, are now reading music on the staff and able to follow color coded notation. Each takes great pride in their playing and are truly honing their musicianship skills.
From Kindergarten through 4th grade, my students are now learning what it takes to play in and be a member of an ensemble. Their teamwork and encouragement of each other has been inspiring. I can't wait to have them compose their own original music!
Boomwhackers have become a phenomenon at our school. As each class arrives, the first question they ask is whether or not they will be using them that day. To see their excitement for music and playing an instrument has been motivating for not only myself, but the other faculty and staff out our school.
The gift you have haven these students will truly last them a lifetime. Thank you again.”

Lights.....Action?!
Funded Aug 19, 2011I cannot fully express how grateful I am to know that there are people out there that truly value a music education. I believe that music is a truly universal language and a music educations will not only help our students become more creative, but ultimately better problem solvers and communicators.
The camera that you helped fund will be a key component for all performances throughout the school year. The students will be learning to express themselves by evaluating their performances.
Without donors like you, my students would not have this great opportunity. Thank you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Tierney
