Wipe a Nose & Feed the Imagination
Funded Nov 29, 2021Each year as an educator is unique. Different students. Different situations. Different community events. Having just left a year of online teaching, where technology played a key role in our teaching and learning, I knew I wanted to bring part of that learning back into our physical space. I've never been one to shy away from technology with students but I also do not have the time to create my own resources this year as I was able to devote last year. Teachers Pay Teachers is an amazing resource. I greatly appreciate the funds to buy teacher created, student tested materials. I've been able to use and tweak resources from TPT to teach a unit on the Nutcracker this past December. I was able to tie in the work of ballet companies who are making the work more culturally accurate. Thank you for your generous contribution to help create engaging units for our students.”

Supplies to LEARN!
Funded Oct 26, 2021We are just getting to the point where Omicron is on the decline and I will be able to start using the parachutes! This year has been a rollercoaster, to say the least. The parachutes will give us a different way to show form and respond to music. We are also getting to the point where we will be able to start using the dry erase materials. Giving students another way to express and show their understanding. We know that our learners need multiple opportunities and ways to learn. Thank you for supporting my students' learning adventures.”

Funded Aug 13, 2019The magic of puppets is alive in our music room! Students were excited and attentive today as they discovered the larger owl's head moves!! What?! I don't know what they are talking about- wink, wink. It must have moved when I wasn't looking. They insist it was moving while I was talking. Hooked and reeling them in! The joy. The laughter. The suspense. All there. Thank you for these tools of joy and pure magic. These high quality puppets allow for imaginations and learning to grow. That's what you have provided our students. THANK YOU for letting me be a part of that joy and learning.”

Funded Aug 18, 2017This project has been so exciting! We have been using the ribbons throughout the year for various movement activities. The CDs have added to our listening and movement selections. The books have been extremely engaging and inspirational. Having this literary connection in the classroom is valuable on many levels. The literature helps show the importance of books and reading but it also helps students see the connection between the different subjects. Drum Dream Girl by Margarita Engle connected beautifully to Langston Hughes' 'The Dream Keeper.' Connecting poetry, music and literacy was quite magical. Thank you for helping me bring these opportunities to our students!”

Funded Aug 19, 2017This project had so many moving parts. We've been using perspective and technology to guide some of our learning this year. Most recently we used the drone to capture pictures of the classes practicing their Russian dance, Troika. This proved to be an excellent tool to talk about 'Bird's Eye View,' collaboration and perspective. Students were excited about the technology and seeing themselves as a whole from a different perspective than usual. The idea of collaboration and the importance of each member of the group became more relevant and visible with the drone. Students are very excited about the sound work we will be doing in centers with the Dash and Dot xylophones. These tools have given us the ability to use technology in very unique and exciting ways in our music classroom. Thank you for supporting this project!”

Funded May 12, 2017Having these 3 additional Chromebooks in our classroom has allowed more students access to devices during our reading and writing time. It also gives them an opportunity to use our adaptive math online program inside our classroom. Students delight in being able to find information on their own and it's impossible to have enough books to quench that desire for knowledge and information. Thank you for helping our students access information and further their study and work in such a meaningful way.”

Seeing The Beauty In Other Cultures.
Funded Aug 23, 2017Words cannot express the beauty of these baskets and the difference they make in our music classroom as they hold and organize our instruments from different countries in west Africa- especially Nigeria, Liberia and Ghana. The baskets bring a sense of culture to our classroom which is necessary when we are focusing on rhythms and songs from different parts of the world. The quality, colors and texture of the baskets make it easier for the students to be transported through music to these countries. Thank you for your generous donation to this project and for making our music room a welcoming and pleasing place to visit.”

Funded Mar 18, 2017These third graders are asking questions, making claims, making predictions, creating models, looks for systems and functions and having FUN! This has been such a rewarding addition to our homework for this spring! I've been incredibly impressed with the observational notes and questions students are writing in their journals. It's helping them make the shift from being fed answers and question to them being the ones asking questions and looking for answers in other systems. Students are also making connections and comparisons between life systems and function. Thank you for supporting this project and making this idea a reality. This study has helped develop a class of questioners as well as careful observers.”

Funded Jan 12, 2017My students are motivated by this new technology! They love creating 3 dimensional shapes and I hear them using words like, polygon, quadrilateral, trapezoid, congruent, parallel, pyramid, rectangular, and triangular. We will continue to use this technology to use the words: vertex, vertices, perpendicular, intersect(ing), and more. Later in April we will use our 3Doolers to create furniture in our classroom models we are creating on a 1/4"=1 square foot scale. This technology will allow students to bring their ideas of a perfect classroom to life. Thank you for believing in this project and helping bring these tools/technology into the classroom. My students know how lucky they are and treasure the time they have with the devices. The picture I should have included was the rainbow of color choices- every artist's dream! THANK YOU!”

Funded Oct 7, 2016The book caddies were put on our energy transfer bikes immediately. Students from many classrooms have been enjoying the added feature and use it to assist the ease of riding and reading. They have told me that they greatly appreciate this tool.
The Desk Cycles are also being used in multiple classrooms. We started with all four and found that they took up more room than we had to spare; so, we are using one and have the others in other classrooms. The teachers and students are greatly enjoying the pedaling feature in their own classrooms.
Your generous donation has provided hundreds of students this year and hundreds/thousands in years to come to experience learning while moving. Thank you for believing in creative and innovative learning environments.”
