Refreshed and Revitalized!
Funded Feb 7, 2022Our class loves our new items. They came in and a giant box was on our carpet, so I told them that nice people gave us some money to order some new things for our classroom. We discussed what it could be and they of course where like "its a refrigerator for snacks" we opened it to reveal our bookshelf and as you can see from the pictures they were quite excited to switch our books from our old bookshelf to the new one immediately. They browse, tidy and reorganize the shelf every time they go to the reading area.
As the boxes of goodies continued to trickle in we had several other unboxings! The liked guessing what I could have ordered for our classroom. I would give them clues for example, "legos- it can be rectangular, square, or round, large or tiny and every color of the rainbow". Once they guessed it or felt stumped we would open it and add the goodies into the center rotations for the day!”

Funded Dec 2, 2013My students were so excited when they saw the online magazine open on the smart board. When I started handing them each one, questions began; like is this mine?, are we going to draw on the back?, do we get to take them home? etc. They were ecstatic when the answer to their questions were yes. We read them together as they follow along pointing to the words. They also state which number or color box we will read next. We also enjoy the short informational videos that go with each issue. Then we complete the activity on the back of the magazine, there is usually another little part that I explain so they can do it at home. I love using these to further their knowledge on certain subjects or themes that we are doing in our class. This has helped better their read skills including, left to right progression, sight words, sounding out unknown words, punctuation, forms of print and more. The more I can expose them in a positive way to reading the more likely they are to have a love of reading in the future.”
