Right now my students are stuck in the same style desks that I sat in while in high school over 10 years ago. They are restricting in my teaching and their learning. They are clunky and attached, limiting my seating arrangement opportunities, and the ability to collaborate. I teach through a lot of project based learning and group work, and right now my classroom doesn't support that. My students need to feel safe and comfortable when they sit down, so they are willing to push themselves and step out of their comfort zone. I am asking with help for the major items I will need. This includes 2 Quill Activity tables which can accommodate six students each during work time, two pub tables from Amazon to offer different style seating (including standing) for up to four students, six Hercules style chairs that will be more comfortable than the standard school chairs, eight high stools from Amazon so students can easily move them around for different activities, and smaller stools for students to sit on at the tables. Mix this with my current desks, yoga balls, chairs, and lounge chairs, every student will be able to pick the appropriate place to sit for their mood, activity, and need. By changing the classroom into an "English Cafe", it opens up the opportunity for students to learn differently, collaborate effectively, and ultimately have fun in class.
