Around the World on a Social Studies Adventure!
Funded Dec 3, 2010Thank you so much for your very kind and generous donation to my fourth grade class. We have been having a great time looking at the maps of the world and the maps of the United States. While most of my students can locate California and Mexico on the map giving them areas that have been in the news recently has be fun for them too. My class also love the books on famous people. Once they have read one they want to read them all and have been asking each other for recommendations as to which one they should read next. Although we haven't started on our state reports yet the class knows about the assignment and are already talking about which state they want to "explore". Your wonderful donation has inspired and opened many doors for my class.
Thank you again and again and again!”

We're In The Big Leagues Now!
Funded Nov 8, 2010This is small thank you for your kind and generous donation! The sports equipment that you gave my class is wonderful. We have already played a great game of baseball. Watch out Giants! Our flag football game was fun too! Practice will make perfect when it comes to our football games. The students are so excited that we have to take a class vote to choose what we will play next.
As you know my school is in an urban area and so playing outside after school is limited for most of my students. The sports equipment you have given us will keep my students active and healthy for years to come.
Thank you so much!”

The Hot Seat
Funded Aug 17, 2010Thank you so much for your very generous donation to my third/fourth grade class. The new desk will really come in handy for my students. Currently our classroom has tables that seat two students. These tables are arrange in groups of six students. This works great for my English language learners because we do a lot of sharing and accountable talk when we study math and language arts. The new desk you have donated will be a very valuable addition to our classroom. When a student needs to finish up a test or project or may need a quite space to read a book this single desk will provide that option. Thank you again for your kindness. An educated America is our future and you are making that a reality!”

Let's Print It!
Funded Apr 17, 2010Thank you so much for your very kind and generous donation of a new printer for my classroom. As you know many schools have been impacted by budget cuts and a down economy but thanks to your very thoughtful donation, schools like mine continue to improve. My students are very excited about this color printer/copier/scanner. The class has wanted to scan pictures for projects they are working on and are thrilled to be able to do so now. They also are planning on several persuasive writing reports on the value of the U. S. Constitution with full colored pictures. Benjamin Franklin would be so proud!
Thank you!”

Making Movie Magic
Funded Mar 18, 2010Thank you so much for your kind and very generous donation to my fabulous fifth grade class. The Flip Video camera is greatly appreciated and we have started to use it. Today the students broke into groups and each group was assigned a word from our Open Court story to act out. Studies have found that vocabulary words are better remembered by making the most of natural context. Simply put, acting out the words help the student remember the meaning more than just looking them up in a dictionary.
The class recorded their mini plays and we will watch them tomorrow for further review. This would not have been possible without your wonderful donation. Thank you so much!”

Funded Mar 8, 2010Thank you so very much for your kind and generous donation to my fifth grade class. My students have been looking forward to the Math and Language Arts games your donation has provided. We received the games today and couldn't wait to get started. Although the plan was to use the games for our "Fun Friday" time, we just had to play today.
The class played one game and some of the students decided to stay after school to play another round. So far the class favorites are The Math Star which is a math word problem game and Main Street Shopping which is a language arts main idea game.
Thank you again for your kindness.”

Pencil! Paper! Computer?
Funded Feb 26, 2010Thank you so much for your kind and generous donation. Well, the excitement has just started. As I opened the box there was a hush that fell over the classroom followed by a very loud cheer. We received our new laptop yesterday, set it up and the class started to use it today. We have already researched Benjamin Franklin, Abigail Adams, and Crispus Attucks. The reports on great American patriots are off to a great start. We are also using the laptop to take Accelerated Reader quizzes and the two students that took the test today scored 100%.
The impact and value of your gift is priceless to my students. Thank you again!
