Flexible seating is for flexible teaching. There are dozens of studies that prove sitting is no good for adults in offices. Yet, we ask our students to sit looking computers for hours on end. Yoga ball chairs allow for flexible seating and chair stretching within the classroom. Students that are fidgety can be at ease and long classes that are not physical are torture for kids. They need to find movement, without distracting the class and feeling out of place. Schools have differentiated learning, and differentiated seating should be part of that philosophy. Special Education classes often have a few, and with full inclusion classes, all can benefit.
