My class of very sweet 3rd graders is a very diverse group of students. Most of my students receive free or reduced lunch, which puts them in an economically disadvantaged group. Some of my students have parents who are serving or who have served in Afghanistan and Iraq. I also have some students whose parents, though middle class, are struggling financially due to the recent economic downturn. Also, I have a bright and deserving group of African-American female students who desperately need to succeed in math!!
