  • iPads for the Art Room

    Funded Apr 13, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous donation. My students are very grateful and excited to use the iPad in Art. It is another avenue for them to explore their creative ideas. It is amazing to watch them as they play and click around on the iPad. I show them what I know about the various applications we have downloaded for use on our iPad and let the students choose which application they would like to use. I love their way of learning; click and see what happens. Usually it is really amazing and if not undo gets them back to the beginning again.

I can't wait to share more of their creations with our school community as they get better at using all the iPad has to offer.

Thanks again for your donation and support. You are amazing and my students are very grateful for what you were able to give us.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Halter

  • Empowering Students through Art and Literacy

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

Art and visual imagery are a natural bridge to literacy. It is natural that books should be incorporated into the art classroom. Books can reinforce ideas and concepts that students are learning about in art in a new and relevant way that kids can engage with on their own.

In our Art Room we have a research area that students can go after finishing their artwork to get inspired with new ideas. This is where they will find books related to art topics we are discussing or themes we are using to generate ideas. Students enjoy sharing books with their friends and discussing what they have read. Many come back during their next art class to find the book that inspired an idea for their artwork.

With the books donated by Donors Choose my students are excited by the variety of books I now have to offer. All my students enjoy the research area where they can find inspiration to read and to create art. We have many discussions transpire during their time researching ideas.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Halter

I have all the K-2nd Graders in our town. This means around 600 students are coming to my classroom for art each week. We are a Choice-Based Art classroom. The students are the artists and our classroom is their studio. We discuss and try a variety of art making processes. My students are learning independence and choice-making, as well as, art.
