  • Make Learning Stick

    Funded Sep 21, 2023

On behalf of our classroom and the students, I want to express our deepest gratitude for your generous donation to our DonorsChoose project. Your support will make a significant impact on our students' learning experience.

Thanks to your contribution, our students had the materials needed to decorate their notebooks and make them uniquely their own. This creative outlet not only enhances their organizational skills but also fosters their individuality and self-expression.

Your kindness and generosity are truly appreciated, and we are so grateful for donors like you who believe in the power of education. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Saffery

  • Unleashing the Rebels: Choice Novels on Conformity and Identity

    Funded Oct 10, 2023

The introduction of these new texts has been instrumental in developing a range of essential skills among our students. Through literary exploration of conformity-themed books, students honed their critical thinking abilities by analyzing and questioning societal norms. The texts provided a platform for discussions on individuality, the impact of conformity on personal development, and the dynamics of power within societal structures. Moreover, the stories served as catalysts for empathy, encouraging students to understand diverse perspectives and fostering a deeper sense of social awareness. As a result, the project not only enriched their understanding of literature but also equipped them with valuable life skills crucial for navigating the complexities of the world beyond the classroom.

In our classroom, reading is not just a solitary activity; it's a communal experience that fosters collaboration and discussion. Students are encouraged to share their thoughts, insights, and questions about the texts, creating a vibrant and dynamic learning environment. Reading sessions often transform into lively debates where students explore the intricacies of conformity, drawing connections between the fictional narratives and real-world scenarios. The classroom has become a space where curiosity is celebrated, and the exploration of literature serves as a gateway to deeper understanding and personal growth.

The option to select novels from a thematic selection allows our students from various and diverse backgrounds to connect with the concepts and literature in a way that is meaningful for them.”

Mahalo for your generous donations!! Your support will make an incredible impact on our classroom environment and the learning experiences of our students. Thanks to your kindness and dedication to education, we will able to create a vibrant and inspiring space that celebrates the achievements and hard work of our students.

As a 9th grade ELA class, fostering a positive and conducive learning environment is paramount to our students' success. Your contribution has not only provided us with the resources to enhance the aesthetics of our classroom but has also communicated a valuable message to our students: that their efforts are recognized and valued.

We are dedicated to making the most of this wonderful addition to our classroom, ensuring that it serves as a continuous source of inspiration for our students. • Graphic Novels for Reluctant Readers!

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

Your support has made it possible for us to acquire a set of graphic novels, which will undoubtedly enhance our students' learning experience and foster a love for literature.

As a Language Arts teacher, I strongly believe that engaging and relatable reading materials play a vital role in shaping students' literacy skills. Graphic novels offer a unique and captivating way for students to explore literary themes, analyze complex characters, and improve their overall comprehension, especially for our struggling readers. Your donation has not only broadened our classroom library but also opened doors to new literary experiences for our students.

By having access to these graphic novels, my students will be able to access stories of characters they can relate to and stories that are accessible and engaging for them. This exposure to various storytelling techniques and visual elements will not only expand their imagination but also improve their critical thinking and analytical skills.

Your generosity has not only impacted the academic growth of our students but also their personal development. Many of our students come from low-income backgrounds and may not have the means to access books outside of school. Your donation has provided them with the opportunity to experience the joy of reading outside the confines of the classroom, fostering a lifelong love for literature and learning.

I cannot express enough how grateful I am for your support. Your kindness and dedication to education have made a significant difference in the lives of our students. Rest assured, your donation will be put to good use, and we will ensure that these graphic novels are treasured and well-utilized in our classroom.

Once again, thank you for your unwavering support. We are immensely grateful for your belief in our students and their potential. Your generosity has truly made a lasting impact on their educational journey.”

  • Headphones for Fostering Independent Scholars

    Funded Dec 31, 2022

On behalf of my students and myself, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation to our headphone project. Your contribution means a lot to us, and we cannot thank you enough for your support. Your generosity will help us provide our students with the best possible learning experience, especially in response to the needs of students post-COVID.

The most exciting aspect of the new headphones for our students is the ability to work at their own pace. With the headphones, students can access online materials, lectures, and discussions, and catch up on missing assignments, even if they were absent from class. The headphones provide an opportunity for students to work independently and take control of their learning experience, which has been empowering for many of them. Additionally, the headphones have allowed for more opportunity for differentiation and creating accessible material for students, as we can assign different materials to students based on their individual needs and abilities.

In addition, students who are reluctant readers are able to use the headphones as an aid during independent reading. For some students, reading can be a challenge, and the headphones provide them with the opportunity to listen to and comprehend information in a different way. Overall, the technology has helped us create a more inclusive and accessible learning environment for all of our students.

Your generous donation will continue to be used for future students in my classroom. These headphones will allow me to pre-create materials and supports for students to continue to control their learning at a pace that works for them. At a school where many students struggle with getting to school daily, due to family obligations and other incidences, they will be able to use these resources in class to catch up while they're at school without interrupting other students.

Mahalo again for your very generous donation.”

    With gratitude,
