Create, Problem Solve, Design, and Build: MAKE!
Funded Dec 24, 2015The supplies our school library received through your donation have completely thrilled my students. I have over 25 students who choose to skip their recess in order to come to the library to build and design in our MakerSpace each week beyond the time they spend with these materials during library and technology classes. Students set to work immediately, building with the Architetrix and the K'nex that they were already familiar with. Soon students branched out to explore the Roominate, the Snap Circuits, and the Little Bits. Recently students were able, without direction or instruction from me, to get the Roominate fans to spin on a skyscraper they built. I've heard the Snap Circuit buzzer ring out after the work of 3 different groups. The Little Bits have taught my students how to read an instruction booklet, and I have now had students who created a buzzer with a dimmer, a spinning fan, and a lighted tower. It has been amazing to see students tackle new challenges, voluntarily collaborate with peers, and learn how to read diagrams and instructions with excitement. Your contributions have made this all possible. I cannot thank you enough for helping me engage my students in making, creating, and exploring their passions.”

It's NOT FAIR that science fairs get all the fun. Let's Read
Funded Aug 21, 2014Your donations allowed us to give every student an opportunity to participate in our school wide reading fair. Students who could not afford to purchase their own tri-fold display boards were able to check out a display board from the library in order to create an exhibit about a book they had read. Students added a story summary, copyright information, a persuasive piece, and art to catch the audience's attention. Student boards were then displayed for parents, community members, and school staff to view at an evening reading fair. Students were excited to show off the book they read and the work they had done on their displays. They also were excited to see the work of their peers and learn about new books they may want to read in the future. There were over 125 projects submitted. The materials provided by your donations allowed all students the chance to experience this project. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!”
