  • Books Access for All (Part II)

    Funded Oct 30, 2019

THANK YOU _ THANK YOU _ THANK YOU. It is hard to describe how just one computer can truly make A WORLD of difference. This computer has given students access to books that they would otherwise not be able to read.

With so many students at very different reading levels, it is challenging to meet everyone where they are, but technology helps tremendously. Your support to projects like this helps us (teachers) reach MORE students.

You may never get to see the impact your donation has made, but rest assure, it is valued.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Serrano

  • Libros Para Todos

    Funded Jan 14, 2020

I am blown away by your support with this project. It really means the world to be able to give my students access to technology and with technology access to books.

Students will be able to do research, practice their computer skills by accessing Google Classroom (and slides), and listen to books on audio THANKS to you.

May you receive 100 times in return what you have so generously given us.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Serrano

  • I CAN Practice Mindfulness

    Funded Sep 23, 2019

We are SO excited to have these books in our classroom. They are all about our emotions, our feelings and how to manage them.

Now more than ever, our students need to be explicitly taught how to problem solve and how to express their feelings in ways that are safe for them and those around them.

These books live in two main places in our classroom: our safe space where children go to cool down or refocus, and inside the 'Mis emociones' basket in our classroom library. Students know where to access them!

I also love to read these books aloud to my students. They love hearing the stories!”

  • Let's Read - Vamos a Leer

    Funded Sep 23, 2019

My bilingual students and I are BEYOND grateful to have received these books. There is nothing better than fresh books that are highly engaging and IN SPANISH!

The book titles in this project included animals, life cycles of plants (and animals), the weather, and some fictional stories. As soon as the boxes arrived and my students realized they were books, they could not stop looking forward to the time we would get to open those boxes (just a few minutes later).

The best past about the books in our classroom is that they can be taken home. I love it when students can share their learning with parents and siblings. I believe children should have access to books both at school and outside school.

    You have made this possible.”

  • Learning to Work Together

    Funded Aug 11, 2019

It is hard to explain how ONE table can make such a big difference in our classroom, but it has. This table has allowed us to work better in partners and small teams. Students are able to sit next to each other and across from each other.

We even used the table to host a biology professor and her amazing collection of fossils. Students were able to gather around the table to manipulate fossils, talk about what we have been learning, trace rocks, and so much more.

We have also been using the table for reading work and math. This table has made quite an impact in the short amount of time we have had it.

    THANK YOU!”

  • Basic Supplies Are Not Basic

    Funded Jul 9, 2019

My students will enter through the doors of 'our classroom' on Tuesday, August 20. Thanks to YOU, we have the tools/materials we need to start the year of right.

Your donations have brought a classroom set of dry-erase boards, dry erase markers and my favorite - People Colors. These tools will be used on the first day of school. I cannot wait to see my students' faces when they get to UNWRAP the boards and use the new markers/colors. Who does not love newly, freshly sharpened pencils?

Again, some people may see these items as simple supplies, but for my students and I, they mean A LOT. Thank you for your generosity and for believing in this project. You have made this back to school season, so much brighter.

May you receive 100 times what you have gifted us.”

  • Let's Work Together

    Funded Jul 11, 2019

We are going onto our fourth week at school (time flies) and to say that my students love the round table would be an understatement. It may sound silly that a simple round table could create such an impact in group work, but it REALLY does. Just think about it. Children are not isolated at single desks, they are gathered around to work together, to share ideas and to grow as learners. Thank you for the table you have so graciously given to us.

Students use the table during reading time, math time, inquiry time (did you spot the young scientists on the photos looking closely at some sources?), and of course, writing time.

Thank you for your support, your trust in this project and for giving my students the tools they need to succeed.”

  • Empower Me With Books

    Funded Aug 11, 2019

When my students and I received the books from this project, we were ecstatic. We are already going onto week 4 of our new school year and we have read HALF of the books you so graciously donated.

Some of the books were written in English, the others in Spanish...and yes! We love them all. The books are teaching us all about breathing (taking a moment to concentrate on our breath), being present, doing kind things for others and so much more.

Breathe Like a Bear is a favorite. In fact we are learning so many different ways to be calm ourselves...and ALL thanks to you for making sure these books made their way to my classroom.

    Thank you once again.”

  • I Wish I Had One Those When I Was Kid

    Funded Jul 11, 2019

We have been at school for three weeks already and to say that my students love the options for flexible seating would be an understatement. They REALLY love the options you have so graciously given to them.

The most important part it that it has really helped students who usually have a difficult time seating. These stools require you to constantly be engaged to maintain your balance. Students use them during reading time, but most importantly for writing.

It is incredible to think that a simple seating choice can make such a HUGE impact, but it really has. Thank you for your support, your trust in this project and for giving my students the tools they need to succeed.”

  • Book Access for All

    Funded Nov 27, 2018

The addition of these 3 book series to my classroom library has been beyond rewarding. Students are reading chapter book after chapter book, making recommendations to friends, and taking those books home to share with family members (including younger siblings).

It makes the WORLD of difference to have highly-engaging texts available for students to read.

Thank you SO much for your support and for believing in this project. Your donations mean the world to my students and I. Thank you for putting books in the hands of my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Serrano
