  • Learning Comfortably

    Funded Dec 9, 2021

It is WITH so much gratitude that I am writing this note. Your support to this project has meant so much to my students and I.

These 2 chairs have become the classroom's favorite. Working in small groups, working on the rug, or anywhere in the room is not possible thanks to you. It may seem like something so small, but having back supports while we work together is huge. We are comfortable and we can concentrate on the task rather than our bodies.

Thank you again for your support and for allowing me to teach better.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Serrano

  • Becoming Experts on Animal Adaptations

    Funded Nov 20, 2021

THANK you once again for your support with this project. The books requested on this project were put to amazing use (sharks, elephants, frogs...oh my!)

Giving EACH child a book sent the message that we value literacy and that we care about them as readers, as students. Also, we did not just read the books, or gained new wonderful vocabulary, we used the books to model our own writing after.

Students worked in partnerships, small groups, and independently. We learned SO MUCH thanks to you.

Your support to projects like this has a HUGE impact. Thank you for believing in the power of literacy.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Serrano

  • Non-Fiction Grade Level Texts for All

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

THANK you once again for your support with this project. The books requested on this project were put to amazing use.

Giving EACH child a book sent the message that we value literacy and that we care about them as readers, as students. Also, we did not just read the books, or gained new wonderful vocabulary, we used the books to model our own writing after.

One of the photos shows how students learned about gathering important facts and determining main idea.

  • Grade Level Texts for All

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thanks to your support, EVERY student in my classroom was able to get his/her own copy of the book La tumba misteriosa. Each child was able to have access to grade level text (4th grade), follow along as we read, and discuss the text.

Children were able to engage in meaningful conversations, write about their reading and finally compose a fictional narrative. We have referred to the text over and over again to learn about author's craft and learn about text evidence (using the book to support our answers).

We are so very grateful. Thank you for making this project a reality.”

  • Sports and Society...a Research Project

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

My students and I THANK YOU for your support with this project. By supporting this project, you put new, high quality and engaging literature in the hands of my students.

The books from this project have captivated my students' attention. They are reading and learning so much about a variety of topics. They have also been able to take the books home and share them with family members.

Students have also been inspired by the books and used them as mentor texts for their own writing (talk about the power of great literature!).

Again, we thank you and feel so lucky to have your support.”

  • Falling in Love With Great Books

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

THANK you so much for your support. It is thanks to you that my 4th graders have access to new and highly engaging literature.

My students have enjoyed reading the books you so kindly donated. We have learned about wonderful and strong women (past and present). We have read about courageous men. Besides learning about people, we have also learned about different sports, rules and how societies around the world enjoy sports.

Students have also been able to take these books home to share with their families.

Your support means the world to us.”

  • Diverse Books at Home

    Funded Jan 17, 2021

This year has been challenging, but students have proven ONCE again how amazingly resilient they are. While I would have loved to be in the classroom with them, we still met every week (cia Zoom) to learn, build community and grow as readers.

The books in this project were distributed to kids last month when we had the opportunity to be on campus for a few days. Nothing made me happier than seeing their happy faces - excited to have NEW books to take home and KEEP.

Thanks to your support, I was able to fill bags with amazing books, and in turn share my love of reading with them. My students and are are so VERY grateful for your support, your trust in this project and your commitment to education.

    Happy reading.”

  • It's Just a Table

    Funded Jun 6, 2020

I thought for some reason that I had written and said THANK YOU about this project, but I did not. My apologies for taking so long to do so.

TO be honest, this project was funded right before the pandemic unraveled. I was notified the table was delivered to my classroom, but I was not able to go to my classroom, open the package or take any photos.

Honestly, I cannot wait till it is safe to get back to my classroom and unpack the box, but most importantly - I CANNOT wait to be back with my students.

I am grateful for your support, and for believing in public education.”

  • Sit and Move...It's That Simple

    Funded Dec 30, 2019

My students' excitement (as you can see on the photos posted under this project) was so amazing to witness. They were not just incredibly grateful to receive these 2 stools, they were so humbled to know that people around the country care about them and how they best learn.

When the stools arrived, EVERYONE wanted to put them together and 'try them.' You see, these are not just 2 chairs or sitting options, these are tools that can make a world of difference in the life of a child with sensory needs. These stools allow you to move and rock while working on your core balance and strength. It is what some students needs to be successful and how lucky are we that you so kindly helped with this project.

To say that we are happy or excited is an understatement. We are beyond grateful for your support.”

  • Real Math = Math in Groups

    Funded Feb 25, 2020

THANK YOU for your generosity. Your support to this project with a focus on math will surely make a WORLD of difference in my classroom.

Your donations will support us in better understanding math concepts (from place value to telling time), working in groups and making sense of the world around us.

My students and I are BEYOND grateful and could not thank you enough for your support. May you receive 100 times (in return) what you have gifted us.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Serrano

My third grade class is energetic, charismatic, and more than anything - smart. It is through the arts integrated curriculum that students are able to both learn and express their learning in many different ways - as different as each third grader is.
