  • Make Learning Stick!

    Funded Nov 17, 2024

Thank you so much for helping my students learn and grow with all of your generous donations.

It is difficult to describe the impact you make in my students’ lives.

I can’t wait to have a new magnetic whiteboard so that they can, once again, have interactive, group learning experiences.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cooke

  • Teach Your Dragon to COPE!

    Funded Mar 21, 2024

Once again, thank you so much for all that you do to support my students! They are super excited about the "Train Your Dragon..." books and plushy. We have been looking through the books in small groups and discussing them.

I am working to put together Social Skills classes for next year and these will be so helpful in starting the lesson.

My students are also incredibly excited about the weighted stuffed animals. Several of my students have recently experienced severe trauma and a hug from Masey seems to be just the ticket.

I can't take away all of the pain in their lives but having a safe place and a warm hug lessens it just a little.”

  • Coping With Emotions...

    Funded Mar 19, 2024

Thank you for helping me provide resources and guidance for my students. Thank you for giving my students the skills and abilities to deal with the stress and anxiety of "modern life."

It is very easy to think that students gain these skills through osmosis, however; that is simply not the case. Just like reading, math, science and social studies, students have to be taught these skills.

It is, and always has been, my goal to provide these skills to my students and, with your assistance, I CAN!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cooke

  • Drawing Inspiration

    Funded Dec 29, 2023

The primary focus of "Drawing Inspiration" was to provide a place for my students to gather, talk, eat, do art projects and work on classroom assignments.

My students absolutely love the picnic tables, lap desks and new markers, however; their favorite thing that we received are the bubble timers! I was stunned when I put them on the tables that the students just wanted to keep flipping them over and watching the bubbles flow. This was not just my Special Education students but also my regular education students.

They enjoyed them so much that I went to Michaels and purchased more this weekend.

Thanks again for your generosity! My students are enriched and excited because of your generosity.”

  • Rocking on the Fur (Rugs)

    Funded Oct 11, 2023

Thank you so much for helping to provide my students with a soft place to land. They love the rugs and chairs but, I truly believe, their favorite things are the weighted dragon for anxiety and the emotional support fries and octopus.

I love the fact that we now have a couple of chairs that are a little further from the ground (so that it doesn't take me 10 minutes to get up when I have a counseling session).

I truly cannot express how much it means to my students (and to me) that you all are willing to give them the ability to start their day in the "front seat." (Those of you who have attended Conscious Discipline will get that reference).”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cooke

  • Keep Calm and COPE!

    Funded Sep 21, 2023

The impact of this project is simply incredible. My "calming spot" is almost 100% complete, my windows are now a woodland forest, I have a texture wall, and the students are SO EXCITED!

Students are so excited to come into the soothing and relaxing environment that I am working to create that I have anywhere from 75-100 students coming in the morning to read, relax, talk and play games. The students come and go over the course of about an hour but it is a steady stream.

I have several students that have anger management issues and having a safe place to practice their coping and de-escalation routines is invaluable.

Thank you so much for your continued support of my students!”

  • SERIES-ously, Books are GREAT!

    Funded Sep 1, 2023

I was devastated when I learned over the summer that our school library was being shut down and turned into a "team center." I worried about my students. I wondered what we could do to make certain that students had books in hand (that they want to read). I went into the library and took as many of the books that I received with grant funds as possible and put them in my new office.

No one seemed to really notice that I was setting up a "library" in my office until I received word that, out of the blue, this project had funded. I started talking to my students and letting them know that they could come and borrow books in my office. At first it was only a few of my "regulars" from the library but it has quickly blossomed into a steady stream of GROUPS of students coming in to return the books they have finished reading and get new ones.

Administration has started to notice and last week we had a meeting and they have asked me to restart our AR program so that students can get points and earn prizes. Without your help, my students would have no way of reading their favorite books. I'm incredibly excited by the enthusiasm for reading that lives on in my students. Thanks to your generosity!”

  • Book Nook

    Funded May 2, 2023

It is difficult to describe the impact that receiving the books and bean bag chairs has had. I received the chairs this morning and already the students are running to get to sit on them.

The books are a much anticipated (and needed) addition to our library. I wasn't able to get them on the shelf until the day after they arrived and you would have thought the world had ended.

Before receiving the books, we had one Harry Potter book in the library and it was the third book in the series and falling apart. The new books are so awesome, they are almost afraid to touch them (almost!).

    Thank you again!”

    Ms. Cooke

  • Fresh Books for Tired Brains!

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

My students are so excited to receive new books for the library! They have had them continuously checked out since the day I put them on the shelf. I can't even get the impact photos because the books aren't in the library.

I may have to submit pictures of empty shelves! I received 50 books from Donors Choose and was able to purchase about 150 more at my book fair and we so desperately need books that not one of those books has been in the library for more time than it takes to check it in and immediately check it back out.

I am so incredibly grateful for all of the support I have received this year...and so are my students!”

  • Building Our Way to A Brighter Future

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

My students have been so incredibly excited to have new STEM activity sets! For the last two weeks, I have had them out on the tables in the library for them to build and experiment. The sounds of laughter are deafening and the "masterpieces" they have shown me have been incredible.

I can never adequately describe how grateful I am for the continued support I have received this year in transforming my tired library into a vibrant space for learning and joy.

The number of students who run in here every morning to check out books, build things, discover new items, etc. grows DAILY! I now have so many students that rush in EVERY morning that it is one of the busiest times of the day.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cooke
