  • Books for Success

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

I want you to know how grateful, excited, and appreciative I am of your generosity. My students and I are really thankful for your kind action.

The project that you fully funded is now allowing my students to practice reading, acquire new vocabulary, improve their writing, and obtain knowledge that is only available through books. My students are using these books once a week. They are practicing the different sections of the AP exam. It is a joy to see how they are gaining confidence by using these books, and for that, I thank you.

My students were very excited when they saw the materials arriving at the class, and I was ecstatic because they would be prepared for the AP test.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you very much.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Romero

  • Supporting AP Students

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

I want to take the opportunity to tell you how grateful, excited, and appreciative I am of your generosity. My students and I are really thankful for your kind action.

Knowing that there are people like you who support our classrooms and believe in the things we do, gives us the strength to do our best for our students. After all, they are the future, and providing them with a better education will give them the tools they need to succeed.

The project that you fully funded will allow my students to practice reading, acquire new vocabulary, improve their writing, and obtain knowledge that is only available through books. My students from my AP Spanish class are using this book every day, and they are excited because they have the opportunity to practice for the AP exam. I have no doubt that they will pass the test, thanks to your generosity.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you very much.”

  • Meaningful Projects

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

the project that you fully funded is now allowing my students to create projects that are meaningful to them. When the materials arrived to my class, my students were very excited and they could not believe when I told them that it was a donation!! We used the materials to create cards for Valentine's Day, and since Mother's Day is coming up, they will be using the materials to write poems for their mothers, or card in appreciation for everything they have done, for them.

I want you to know how grateful, excited and appreciative I am of your generosity. My students and I are really thankful for your kind action.”

  • Using Better Technology for Learning

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

The project that was fully funded is allowing my students to look for information, graphs, articles, videos and to put together their Power Points. Having a reliable computer that will not freeze when I am writing notes with students, presenting a new concepts on Zoom, correcting homework, or simply showing them illustrations for new vocabulary has made my teaching lees frustrating. This project has increased my students' engagement and participation because now I can use the laptop to place them in different groups using breakout rooms. My students are also grateful that we can conduct a smoothe virtual class without the computer crashing. Now that we are having a few students back in our classrooms, they are also able to use the laptop to connect with other teachers or work on their project.

I thank you very much for your kindness and please note that your donations are making a difference.”

  • Reading Opens Many Doors to Success

    Funded Jan 1, 2019

I want to take this opportunity to tell you that words cannot describe how excited, and appreciative I am for the contribution you made. My students and I are grateful for your kindness.

The project that you fully funded is now allowing my students to practice reading, acquire new vocabulary, improve their writing and obtain knowledge that is only available through books. They are reading every day for 20 minutes and the fact that some of my students connect to the themes, problems, and situations presented in La Casa en Mango Street, makes it more enjoyable. I am, on the other hand, very excited because when they are writing the summary of what they read, I see that their writing skills are improving. Also, when we analyze the situations, conflicts or themes, my students are eager to share because they can relate to the reading.

In my classroom, I include 20 minutes dedicates to reading. Even though I teach Spanish, I incorporate literature to explore or reinforce new concepts. Reading activities vary from analyzing passages whole group to small group projects. The books acquired through this grant have expanded my classroom reading library.

The students are really enjoying the book because they are able to relate to the story. This is evident in their summaries as well as our classroom discussions. For example, when we read the passage about the name of one of the characters, its meaning and why she had that name, my students were eager to share their names, the meaning and why this made them unique.

Again thank you for your kindness, your actions give me the strength and encouragement to try my best for my students. After all, they are the future, and providing them with better education will give them the tools that they need to succeed in life.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Romero

  • Colorful Projects that Bring Pride

    Funded Mar 30, 2017

I want to take this opportunity to tell you that words cannot describe how excited, and appreciative I am for the contribution you made. My students and I are forever grateful for your kindness.

We are using the materials to create projects that are of interest to my students. For example, they created a pamphlet about a place they are interested in visiting. The materials provided the opportunity to be more artistic and creative. As a result, they did an outstanding project that enhanced their learning and understanding. Another example is that we received the materials right before The Day of the Death, and my students were able to decorate my wall with colorful decorations and poems related to this tradition. As for me, I am using the materials to write down important information for the students who are learning Spanish and need the opportunity to look at the words they are learning every day.

My students were very excited when they saw the materials that were purchased thanks to your donations. They could not believe all the things we received. They also were very excited to know that this material was exclusively for them to use.

Future projects that I have in mind will be to create color-coded booklet sections. One section will be for verbs and conjugation, other for vocabulary, other section for questions and answers in the target language, and the last section for notes. I am also planning on using the material to do projects related to Day of the Death again.

I am truly grateful for all you have done for us. Without your contribution, it could have not been possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Romero

Once again thank you very much for what you have done for me and my students.”

  • Bringing Short Stories to Life

    Funded Sep 15, 2014

Thank you for your generous donation. My entire class was in awed when they saw the camera that will be used to film our short stories. The funding of this project also made them aware that they are many individuals passionate about their learning. Some of my students will be using the camera very soon to start filming their project. They have already started taking pictures of the places they want to film, and have added this as documentation for their grade. Their enthusiasm of having a great piece of equipment that takes qualify photos makes them more proud of work, and accountability of assignment completion has increased as well.

As a result of your generous donation, I can continue developing ideas with my students to film their short stories. We will be starting a unit where they will write an original composition. They are eager in starting this new assignment. Maybe their enthusiasm for this next assignment would've diminished without the equipment that we acquired. I have never seen them more motivated than the day they actually saw the camera.

We are truly a lucky class. Donors like you make our teaching better. Thank you once again for funding this project.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Romero

Chatsworth Charter High School is an urban school. Most of my students are primarily Title one recipients. Although they face social, emotional, and economic challenges, my students are hard workers and eager learners. Many of them understand that education is the key to have a better future. Unfortunately with all the changes and the lack of funding, it becomes more challenging to provide a quality education.
