  • Power Up with Ipads

    Funded Feb 9, 2025

Thank you so much for the iPad! My students are using it every day in the classroom. They do research, use learning apps, and take it on nature walks to take pictures of what they observe. It has opened new ways for them to explore, ask questions, and show what they learn. The iPad helps make learning fun and exciting. We are so thankful for your generous gift. Your support truly makes a difference in our classroom. My students are very excited to use it!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Leticia Monarrez

  • Place Value Playground

    Funded Dec 14, 2024

Place value charts and rekenreks have been an essential tool for helping my students grasp the concept of ones, tens, and hundreds. Many second graders struggle with understanding that a digit's value depends on its position within a number. By using a place value chart, students can physically place numbers into their correct columns and see how numbers are composed and decomposed. This has been particularly useful when teaching addition and subtraction with regrouping. Thank you for these place value tools.”

  • Durability is Key

I teach in the Los Angeles Unified School District in East Los Angeles. Our school serves students in grades ETK-6. We are an inner city public school and 100% of our students are in the free meal plan. I teach kindergarten to 26 eager kindergarten students. I am teaching a dual language program this school year. I will love to spark the love for literature at this young age. My students would benefit from listening center, because often times they are not read to at home. They go home and parents cannot read themselves so they cannot read to their child. I would like for my students to be able to listen to good reading modeling besides me, the teacher. I want to engage them at this young age to spark their curiosity for stories. The students will use the listening center and books as another model, besides me their teacher, of fluent reading. Please help me bring literacy to these young scholars!
