Kindergarten Creativity in Comfort!
Funded May 14, 2024I do not have the words to express my gratitude for your support for our project. We try to offer as many opportunities to our students as we can, and your support makes it possible for us to continue to do this. The supplies that you are providing for my students will allow us to read in comfort and express our creativity. Thank you.”

Funded Nov 19, 2018Our students get daily use of the bean bag chairs and the rug. During reading, the children take turns reading on the bean bags. During our read-alouds and most mini-lessons the children enjoy sitting on the beautiful, colorful rug.
The children were super surprised about the bean bags, the bright rug, and the comb binding machine. We will use the comb binding machine soon to bind our class-made books. Our students love the opportunity to read at the bean bags or play learning games on the rug.
Our classroom has become a warmer and comfy learning environment for my special learners. We can't thank you enough for your generous donations!”

Writing is Exciting!
Funded Mar 4, 2017Writing can sometimes be an overwhelming challenge for children with learning disabilities. The materials you, our donors, have provided will help our students break the writing process into multiple steps they can achieve more easily. As you can see in the photographs, the materials arrived pretty quickly. We plan on using the post-it notes and pens to write our narrative stories. The post-its will help us write parts at a time then we can move the post-its around to make our stories make sense. The sheet protectors will help keep our stories safe and visible on the bulletin board.
When my students first saw the materials they all cheered. They are very grateful for your generosity. The students are actually excited about starting the next writing assignment which will be to write fictional narrative stories.
The next steps for our students will be to present their best work in the white binders. They keep most of their writing projects in a regular folder but when it comes time to celebrate their writing, they will get a chance to pick three to four writing pieces to display in the binders.
Again, thank you so much for your generosity. The materials will benefit our students and help them to develop as creative writers.”

Mrs. Vasquez
Sensitive Ears!
Funded Mar 1, 2017Can you imagine eight special needs children reading to themselves out loud? They do this because in order to learn to read they must sound words out and listen to their reading to see if the text makes sense. Not only do our young students have difficulty with reading they also have sensory disorders that do not allow for them to tolerate any noise while trying to read.
Our students could not believe the generosity of your donations. They were surprised and extremely delighted to be able to use these noise canceling headphones immediately.
The beauty of this donation is that these headphones can be used for many years to come by several different youngsters.
Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. :)”

Dictionaries and Thesauruses
Funded Nov 9, 2015Our class would like to sincerely thank you for the dictionaries and thesauruses. These materials have helped us improve our spelling and we've learned new words, too. The thesaurus has helped us learn new extraordinary words and we've used these new words to replace old and boring words.
In our classroom, we love to read. However, we often come across words we are not familiar with. This is when the dictionaries come in handy. When we write, we are learning to use big words that are not commonly used. This is where the thesaurus is very handy.
We're very appreciative of the materials you've provided for our class. We sincerely want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

Laptop for SETSS Group
Funded Feb 27, 2015My students were very excited and very impressed with the laptop you donated. They have been able to access educational websites, especially our personal favorite raz-kids.com. They have been reading online books at their independent reading levels. Our students have also been accessing the Internet to play online math computational games to develop their math facts fluency.
This project boosted my teaching in that it gave our students an incentive to do their best and pay close attention to the lessons so they could access the internet in a follow-up activity.
We would like to send our sincerest thank you for the amazing donation you provided for our class.”

iPad Covers Save the Day!
Funded Feb 27, 2015We can't thank you enough for the iPad covers. Our students were having difficulty maneuvering the iPads with care. One of them even dropped one on the table by accident. As soon as we placed the iPad covers the children were excited to play with them again.
Now our students are focused on learning with ease. They enjoy their time playing educational games that enhance their learning. These covers have definitely done the trick.
Thank you again for your generous donation. Our students will benefit from these iPad covers for years to come.”

Hands-On For Hot's! (Higher Order Thinking Skills)
Funded Oct 27, 2014My students were thrilled to receive the headphones! They enjoy listening to stories independently and better yet, recording themselves reading. The headphones have definitely impacted the students in a positive way. It's given them the opportunity to enjoy different apps on the ipads and listen to a variety of stories at their independent reading levels.
The magnetic dry-erase easel has been a Godsend! We use both sides. On one side we have the magnetic letter tiles that help my young students decode (read) three letter words. On the other side that has lines, we have the opportunity to write do nows, and our objectives for the day. My students enjoy working out math problems and solving multi-step word problems. :)
This project boosted my teaching in that it facilitated the teaching of letter sounds and blending those sounds into words. The magnetic aspect of it allows my students to go and create their own three letter words and "read"! My kindergartners and my first graders are enjoying the easel to no end. :) My upper grade students enjoy being able to solve computation and word problems on the lined side of the easel. They love to "teach" the rest of the class how to solve a problem.
Thank you again for your generous donations. The items you donated towards are being put to great use in our classroom and will continue to serve children for years to come. Thank you.”

Sensory Sensitivity
Funded Mar 4, 2014You wouldn't believe the world of difference these noise canceling headphones have made. Our students can now work quietly without auditory distraction. We do our lesson introduction together, practice together, then practice with the headphones on. Our children have told us time and again how they love using these noise canceling headphones what with all the noise around them. The progress the students are making is outstanding. They are performing better and are more motivated to learn because of the lack of distraction.”

Technology For a Special Class
Funded Sep 14, 2013My students were super excited about receiving the iPods! They are so motivated to get their work done in time so that they can "play" with the TeachMe app on the iPods. I've also purchased cute rubber covers for them so that they don't break if a child drops one by accident.
I have downloaded several inexpensive apps for my students to develop their skills. Some of the educational apps are: TeachMe 1st Grade, TeachMe 2nd Grade, TeachMe 3rd Grade, SuperWhy, Starfall ABCs, Starfall Learning, BOB Books, Dolch Sight Words, BuildAWord, and TeamUmizoomi Zoom Into Numbers.
This project has boosted my students' learning by making learning fun. In the apps, the children earn digital stickers, coins, and other incentives that make the children competitive. The students are already showing growth in their sight word readability and their primary math skills.
We can't thank you enough for supporting our project. Thanks a million!”
