  • Dry Erase Supplies

    Funded Jul 27, 2022

Thank you very much for the dry erase supplies for my classroom. It is appreciated very much. My students will be thrilled to have white boards and dry erase markers to use throughout the day. The white boards will come in handy during our math block and morning meeting times.”

    With gratitude,

  • Chapter Books

    Funded May 5, 2022

I love books and reading. I especially love to share my love of books and reading with my third grade students. Our classroom is filled with so many books. We have many different genres located in our library: mystery, biography, fiction, non-fiction, fairy tales, historical fiction and so many more. Students keep many books of their choosing in their desks for independent reading time or other times throughout the day that they may have free time.

During the pandemic, it was very hard to get books into the hands of my students. While we were attending school via zoom, it was difficult to share my love of books and stories through the computer. Now that we are back in the classroom, I am happy to share books with the students.

After recess, we gather on the classroom rug for our daily read aloud. The read aloud is normally a chapter book and we read one to two chapters per day. Because of the funding of this project, my students are able to have and enjoy their own chapter books while I am reading aloud to them. They love having their own books to follow along with, and this time of the day has quickly become their favorite part of the day.”

  • Mentor Texts to Help Us Write Personal Narratives

    Funded Oct 25, 2018

My third grade students are the best! They especially love to sit on the classroom rug as a group to listen to me read aloud to them. There is nothing I love more than sharing some of my favorite stories with my students. Some of the titles included in this project included: Owl Moon, The Relatives Came, A Chair for my Mother, and Jabari Jumps. They are all beautifully written and illustrated books.

Third graders write personal narratives at the beginning of the year. Many of my students are lacking in personal small moments or have difficulty generating ideas from their own lives to write these personal narratives.

These mentor texts provide my students with an example of good writing and provide students with a model to emulate in writing their own personal narrative.”

  • Rainy Day Building Materials

    Funded May 6, 2022

I am so excited that this project was funded today. The kids are going to love having new activities to use during recess on days that we can’t get outside to play. My students are very creative and I can’t wait to see what they build with our new materials!”

  • Teachers Pay Teachers Gift Cards

    Funded Apr 28, 2022

Thank you very much for your very generous donation to my classroom. The gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers will come in very handy when I am trying to supplement my reading curriculum. I will be able to purchase resources to help my students who are struggling during reading time.”

  • Help Us Get Organized

    Funded Aug 10, 2018

Thank you very much for the generous donation to our classroom. It was very thoughtful of you to fund this project so that we could receive classroom mailboxes. The students were very excited to receive the mailboxes and set them up for use in our classroom. They are a very useful addition to our classroom. I am able to place homework in them each day which saves time and confusion of passing papers out. Students are able to independently grab their homework each day before they leave school. In addition, I am able to place all graded/corrected papers into the mailboxes at the end of the week so that the students can bring all of these papers home for their parents. The mailboxes have helped keep us organized this year. Thanks again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kennedy

  • Needed:Time for Kids Magazines

    Funded Oct 26, 2018

Thank you very much for the generous donation of magazines to our third grade classroom. My students and I are always very excited when we see we have a new volume of Time For Kids in our mailbox. Sometimes we read the articles together but sometimes we read the articles with a classmate. The articles lend themselves to fantastic classroom discussions and many of the students love to participate. It is very important for children to be exposed to current events and important news stories that affect all of us. Time For Kids allows us to have access to events that are in the news and that the students need to be aware of. Thank you!”

  • Needed:Extra Math Resources

    Funded Jun 7, 2018

Thank you very much for funding this project. My students and I appreciate your kindness and generosity. Because my students come to third grade with different mathematical skill levels, I need to be able to provide each student with different levels of instruction, practice papers and homework. This is not always easy to do without additional resources. With the addition of all of these math resources, I am able to differentiate many of the math skills that I am required to cover during the school year. Thank you so very much.”

    Mrs. Kennedy

  • Books to Strengthen Our Classroom Community

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

Thank you very much for the generous donation to my classroom project for books to help strengthen our classroom community. These books helped create a strong sense of classroom community. It is important to create this atmosphere at the beginning of the year. These books were very helpful in doing this. I see my students stopping to think before they say something that may hurt feelings. I also see them giving each other compliments, sharing their materials and being kind to one another. Our classroom is a happy and kind place to be. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kennedy

I am lucky enough to teach third grade at a STEM Academy. Many of my students come from a background with poverty. They also come from many different countries and English is a second language for many of them. Despite these challenges, my students come to school each and every day ready and eager to learn. My students are the best!
