  • So Many Books, So Little Time

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

Thank you so very much for your generous donations! My reluctant high school readers are actually looking forward to reading time in my classroom! We just finished Long Way Down and my students did not want put it down. The classroom discussion after we finished the book was very engaging. They begged me to read more! They voted for us to read The Outsiders next.

It warms my teacher heart to see them learning to love reading. Thanks to all of you we have enough classroom sets to get us through the school year. I appreciate each and every one of you.”

  • Coffee, Caffeine and Careers!

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

Coffee, Caffeine and Careers is rocking and Rolling! My students were so excited when our packages started to arrive. They eagerly unpacked all of the boxes and prepared our little coffee area.

Next, they produced and directed their own commercial to share with our staff. All of the adults were tickled pink to see the students shining bright!

Now, our staff and students eagerly look forward to Friday for many reasons! Not only is it Friday but they look forward to a warm beverage and homemade baked good delivered to their door with a smile!

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting our little classroom. ”

  • Moving and Grooving

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting my happy, little room! The tractor seat chairs are the perfect addition. They are aesthetically pleasing and the students love them. They are also amazing for our movers and shakers. Students are able to get their wiggles out while still staying focused.

My next Donors Choose project will be based on a small business. I would like to start up Coffee Cart Friday. Those students who complete their work all week will be able to help run a small business on Fridays. We will be preparing and selling specialty coffee drinks to all staff.

Thanks you so much for your continued support. Much love!”

  • Creative Creations

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts! Last Friday we were able to use a lot of our supplies to complete a Santa painting project. We were all so excited to be able to have enough supplies for us all to paint at the same time.

When my students first saw all of the art supplies they were excited beyond belief. They could not wait for Friday to arrive so that we could have our art Friday afternoon. They absolutely love using the tempera paint sticks. As a teacher they are a gem. They produce beautiful vibrant colors with less mess.

This Friday we will pull out the supplies again and paint wooden snowman ornaments for our families for Christmas. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity.”

  • Creative Morning Tub Time!

    Funded Aug 23, 2022

When my students arrived to school on the first day I had the STEM bins ready their little faces were beyond excited. I wish I could have captured all the happy sounds coming from my classroom.

Every day the STEM bins rotate from table to table. They get a new bin for 9 days. When they first arrive they hang up their backpacks and check in with a quick Zones of Regulation check sheet. Then they get 15 minutes to create and explore their bins with their classmates. They are creating the most magnificent structures.

Thank you so much for supporting my classroom. Keep an eye out for our next project which will be all about exploring with art! xxxooo”

  • Feel Good, Do Good!

    Funded May 4, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donation of personal care items. Our entire school is using the supplies you helped donate for our care closet. I wish you could see the happiness in a little child's eyes when someone takes the time to comb their hair.

Students are so happy after they visit the care closet. They feel better and are happy that someone took a few minutes to help them get ready for their day.

My next donors chose project will be a literary project to help support my writers workshop area. Thank you for always supporting my classroom!”

  • Literacy and Engagement

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Our little room of amazingly, wonderful kiddos thanks you from the bottom of our hearts! Providing our classroom with engaging picture books is the best gift ever. The kiddos get so excited when it is time for our literacy hour! So much learning is accomplished using the picture books. They learn to listen, to sequence and to pay attention to details. By the end of the week, most of them are able to paraphrase the story.

Having the printer in our room has been a life-saver for us. We no longer need to run to the printer and are able to spend that time in the classroom. xxxooo”

  • Abilities Outweigh Disabilities

    Funded Jul 10, 2019

I can not thank you enough for your generous donation. Because of people like you I now have a library full of books all about acceptance, special needs and disabilities.

Once a month I am now able to go into general education classrooms and educate children on disability awareness all centered around a children's book. We saw immediate results after the first month of lessons. Children were asking thoughtful and considerate questions. On the playground, children were seeking out and accepting children of all abilities.

One of my non-verbal students received his first letter from a peer. The smile on his face was priceless. Thank you all so much for helping make this happen.”

    Funded Feb 18, 2019

Room 211 thanks you all from the bottom of our hearts!!! Our kiddos were beyond excited when the boxes arrived! The joy on their faces as they opened the boxes was priceless.

We now have many more games and puzzles to explore with our peer to peer friends during social skills time. The cooperative games are so amazing that our older friends also enjoy playing them with us. We have big hopes to learn all of our new games before the end of the year!

We love the game Mermaid Island, because Ms. Zorn LOVES mermaids!!”

  • Learning the Ins & Outs of Self Regulation

    Funded Aug 25, 2018

The students in my classroom often struggle with self-regulation. We've worked for many years to help the kiddos express their feelings in a correct manner. We feel we are making a huge impact using The Zones of Regulations curriculum. In teaching our students the zones and catching them in the moment using our Instamax camera we have been able to use a multi-sensory approach. They not only feel their emotions, they see a picture of themselves experiencing it and then are able to place their pictures on the Zones of Regulations chart in our classroom. We can not be any more grateful for your generous donation to our classroom.”

Although there are many valuable lesson students are taught in school, self-regulation is by far the most important. As teachers, we can guide our students and give them the tools and resources for social and emotional success and development. Unfortunately, not all children have experienced co-regulation; therefore, they do not have the mental capacity to control their emotions and behaviors in the classroom. Due to childhood trauma and not being taught regulation, these children act out of fear. Thus, yielding an unproductive learning environment for all students in proximity, due to frequent disruption. Being taught the skills necessary to regulate emotions will reduce disruption, and produce a more successful learning environment for these students and teachers alike. To help my kiddos identify with their emotions I am asking for a Polaroid camera. This is a valuable resource to help my students SEE the emotion on their face and others. Colored bracelets that match the four colored zones will be another tool to help them learn to regulate their emotions. When my students enter the room they will select the bracelet that matches their mood. This will be invaluable towards helping them learn to self-regulate.
