Back to School Supplies!
Funded Oct 26, 2022I would first like to begin by saying, "THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!!" Your generous donations have provided my students with all the back to school supplies they will need for this school year.
I wanted to surprise my students with all the supplies, so I decided to place all the boxes on a desk and waited for one of my students to notice them. While students were eating one of my students asked, "Mrs. Cardona what are those boxes? What did you order from Amazon?" and that is when I told them the great news! I said, "Our donors choose project got funded!" and they looked at me confused and said, "what?" I smiled and laughed and showed them our classroom page on donors choose and explained to them how the program works and how each and everyone one of YOU donors donated to our classroom project. They thought it was so cool and nice that YOU all donated to our project.
When I began to open the boxes my students were so excited to see all the supplies. They cheered and clapped as I showed each item.
Here are a few reactions to some of the items...
They were ecstatic about the color pencils and how they can take them home to use. They LOVE the pencil sharpener and how sharp it gets their pencil.
They were excited to have sharp scissors that will cut correctly.
When they saw the highlighters and whiteboard markers they said, "Yay! We have new ones! because I lost mine or it ran out."
My students were happy and thankful for each item.
Donors THANK YOU for your generous donations. I appreciate you and your kind heart.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Cardona

Funded Oct 5, 2019Thank you for your extremely generous donations! Myself and my students were excited to learn that the project was fully funded. When the boxes of books arrived, my students were ecstatic to open them and start reading.
The books are mainly used for weekly read alouds. Students come to the meeting area and I read a story to them. During this time, we are focusing on a metacognitive strategy (I.e. making predictions, making connections, visualizing, and etc.). My students love this part of the day!
After, students go back to their desk and we focus on our weekly mentor sentence that is chosen from the book. The sentence is chosen based on style, language, grammar, and mechanics. Each day, students are given a different task to complete. Students really enjoy day 4 and 5 when they get to revise the sentence and imitate the sentence by keeping the same style, but making it their own.
Again, thank you so much for your donations.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Cardona

Funded Aug 22, 2019Thank you for your extremely generous donations! Myself and my students were excited to learn that the project was fully funded. When the boxes of supplies arrived, my students were ecstatic to open them and start using everything.
Having these supplies have given my students the opportunity to practice flexible seating. We use the mat as a gathering center for read alouds and as a center where students can read comfortably. My students really enjoy the CanDo Donut Exercise balls. The Donut balls give them the opportunity to freely move around the room to work independently.
Again, thank you so much for your donations.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Cardona
