In our classroom we presently have two antiquated desktop computers that we use during our math workshop when students work independently on a variety of topics during four carefully chosen math rotations. Often times one or both of the computers are not functioning. During our math rotations, I pull a group of students to work on the current concept. This time helps me assess each student's individual understanding of the math concepts and provides me with one on one time every day with my students. That time is absolutely invaluable! With the condition of the two computers in my classroom however, more often than not I am using that time to troubleshoot computer issues. These Chromebooks would allow students to be more independent in their practice. I know with the addition of this technology students would be focused more on developing grit and less time wondering if the computer will be able to keep up with their work. Additionally, we would use these computers in our reader's and writer's workshop to listen to stories, access our Google classroom for assignments and creating personal narrative's and eventually informational writing which will require online research.
