Our sixth grade literacy curriculum challenges students to explore the process by which people grow and learn. The texts chosen for this project will allow students to meet and spend time with a variety of different characters who are coming of age. Each of the characters face a different set of challenges and interacts with their world in unique ways. Offering a variety of texts to choose from will honor the individuality of each student and ignite their love of reading. Since the books have similar themes, we will be able to have rich and engaging group and class discussions.
