I teach a class of 24 students with a high ESL population. Our school is in an area that has a high transient rate due to the military population that we serve. Each and everyone of them is unique in their own special way with their own special qualities. They thrive on competition and love to be the top class for any competition that the school holds. They all have a love of reading and taking quizzes on the books that they have read. At least half of the class goes to the library daily to get new books to read. I typically teach in small groups rotating a group through using the computers. Whenever, they complete an assignment, they are back at the computers taking a quiz and heading back to the library. We are in the process of creating books for literacy night in March and the students are all typing up the stories that they have written. The problem is that when they need to get ready for state testing, they take the computers out of the classrooms. Then what?
