I want students to understand that art is, and can be, everywhere and is connected within everything. No matter what activity or concept, we can connect with our feelings to use art as an expression of those feelings and to help us move towards our goals! Also, being mindful of the land we are on, how we use it and take/replace needed materials; how we can adapt to use available resources to give back and help our community-strong ethics to live by. All the students at Cayuse Prairie School (ages 4yrs. old to 8th grade), in Kalispell, MT will be making art projects involving star quilts and the traditions associated with their usage. Then, those will be digitally transferred onto fabric to be made into warm quilts that we will present to homeless youth in Kalispell, MT, who are especially vulnerable during our very cold winter months.
