  • Storage Wars

    Funded Feb 27, 2020

We were so grateful to receive these storage items for our gymnasium. Not so long ago, before the COVID-19 Pandemic, we reported to our school every day eager and ready to learn. Together, we would gather in the gymnasium and explore movement and skill building. Together, we would pull out our equipment and make a big mess while we had fun in the gymnasium. Together, we learned and grew and supported one another. And together, we cleaned that mess up and organized our equipment with the cart, hooks, and cone carriers.

We can't wait to get back to the old normal and return to our building, to our lives together.

Thank you for all you have done to provide for our learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Monte

  • EnVISIONing PE for All My Students

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

These new balls with bells are super cool. My students with low vision are eagerly tossing, catching, and shooting the balls at the large, low hoops. This equipment is super light weight and soft, so the kids don't need to be afraid of getting hit and I don't have to worry about them getting hurt or hurting anyone else. The whistles are nice and loud and have varying speed and emissions settings, so we can use them to echolocate targets that are not clearly visible. The big duffle bag holds all of our adaptive physical education equipment and is easy for even our little learners to tote around the gym.

Thank you again for helping us out.”

  • No Tears Dropped With Tierdrop Basketball Goals

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

The students get so excited when we take out the drop tier basketball hoops and hang them on the big nets. They anticipate the challenge, fun, and satisfaction they know they will experience when they shoot their basketballs like the big kids. Everyone is working hard and continuing to strive to improve their form and accuracy. They eagerly run from hoop to hoop and have very little wait time, now that we have enough drop tiers for every backboard in our gymnasium. By lowering our hoops and giving students so many options for success, we are able to reach our goals, physically as well as emotionally.

Thank you all so much for helping us to get these important learning tools.”

    With gratitude,

  • Helmets Rock...Just In Case We Roll Part 2

    Funded Oct 9, 2019

We're pulling together the strings for our family helmet safety workshop. In the meantime, my fabulous Youth Service Team, comprised of a group of wonderful, caring fourth graders, was thrilled to receive their helmets and try them on. They will wear these helmets when they photograph and shoot their Helmet Safety PSA and safety awareness media posts, and, of course, when they go out riding on their bikes, scooters, skateboards, and roller blades. It was wonderful to be able to see their happy faces as they "shopped" for a helmet that met their individual preferences and fit their heads.

Thank you for giving them this opportunity to share the important message of health and safety with their peers and school community. They can't wait to give the rest of the helmets to the workshop attendees.”

  • Youth Service Team PSA Production Studio

    Funded Aug 14, 2019

Well, we finally had a chance to set up the photo studio and play around with our PSA ideas. The Youth Service Team is really excited to move forward with their helmet safety campaign and get their media creative juices flowing. Right now, we're playing with the backgrounds and are looking forward to post production green screen replacements. In the upcoming new year, we will release our new PSA at a family involvement event, where the students will spread information about how to stay safe using helmets. We can't wait.

Thank you for helping us to get this super cool photo equipment. We feel like professionals and know our work will be taken seriously.”

  • Looking for the Helpers In PE

    Funded Nov 10, 2019

Getting kids to be healthy and fit is no easy task. There are so many factors that go into the planning of an effective PE lesson. In addition to the fundamental motor and manipulative skills, we need to envelope important health and social emotional learning concepts, such as honesty, integrity, kindness, care of others, care of self, community helpers, and traffic safety. Being able to identify important community helpers, like fireman, police officers, and EMTs, and being able to role play those important jobs, helps children understand how their environments function and in what situations they can and should seek assistance from the adults around them who care for their well-being.

Thank you for these super awesome community vehicles. They are enhancing our pretend play in our gymnasium in big and meaningful ways.”

  • Pushing Ourselves to Succeed

    Funded Oct 30, 2019

We just love our new balance bikes and safety signs. Last week, we put on the helmets, lined up at the parking lot and took off on a community adventure to use our big muscles as we rolled, turned, balanced, and braked on "Gymnasium Roadway!"

As the weather gets colder and we are spending more of our time indoors, it is so exciting to have these bikes, signs, and helmets to allow ourselves the freedom to keep moving at high speeds as we learn about safety, health and fitness.

Thank you so much for helping us to get these awesome materials.”

  • Paper and Ink to Make Us Think

    Funded Nov 10, 2019

Little things like paper and ink seem so minimal when one considers the vast needs my students have on a daily basis. That being said, this project has really helped these kids by giving them the tools to create important learning guides, like their social emotional rating scale. They now have plenty of paper to record their important ideas and enough ink to print great photos of the important work they do in the gymnasium. Seeing themselves featured on our bulletin board fills them with pride and builds their self-esteem, allowing them to take risks and learn through their efforts.

Thank you for supporting our learning in these ways.”

  • Traffic Safety...It's a Sign of the Times

    Funded Oct 30, 2019

We had the best time on Monday. After a long weekend, following an exciting Halloween week, we were back at work and ready to play in the gym. We pulled out the new balance bikes and helmets, along with some old favorites, the scooters and plasma cars, and had ourselves a little traffic and helmet safety lesson. The new road signs were just what we needed to bring out little riding activity to life. The environmental print allowed my little learners ample opportunities to practice reading road signs. In fact, when a few children refused to stop at the stop sign, one little guy got off of his bike and said he was going to give them a ticket! I happily supplied him with a pad of post its and a crayon and he proceeded to ticket everyone who rode through the stop sign or entered the do not enter roadway in the center of the gym.

These kids moved their big muscles, exercised their creativity, practiced reading and writing skills, rehearsed community worker roles, and just had fun.

Thank you for helping us get these great new learning tools.

We sure do appreciate your kindness.”
