Learning Through Small Group Instruction
Funded Dec 25, 2016Thank you for fulfilling the need for small group easels in my classroom. We received our easels last week and I have already seen the tremendous impact they have had in assisting with small group instruction. My students helped organize the materials using the provided pocket chart, and therefore have knowledge and assess to any materials they may need.
For example, when completing a math word problem four students could use four different strategies: one may use a calculator, one may draw on the easel, one can use a hundreds chart, and one can use ten frames. My learners are fully aware of the location of materials they need, and more importantly now have a sense of independence and responsibility for their own progress.
The value of your donation goes way beyond monetary value. Thank you for your support!”

Watch Us GROW Through Gardening!
Funded Jun 9, 2016Dear Donors,
We can't thank you enough for funding this project. Once we received the materials, We immediately started gardening. So far we have planted strawberries, basil, tomatoes, and beets. The students have also planted several small flowers. Your donation has fostered a new found love of gardening. The students enjoy watering the plants every afternoon. Our garden is both beautiful and functional. We are growing our own snacks, and learning responsibility.
THANK YOU for believing in my students!”

Funded Apr 19, 2016Dear Donors,
I could never thank you enough for what you've done to transform my classroom with the common core journals. My learners with Autism often have difficulty generalizing basic math and literacy skills. The daily practice of new and previously acquired skills has been life changing. Since there are typically only 1-4 questions per day, my students are able to maintain their attention/focus while completing the work.
As a teacher, I found the journals to be extremely useful when planning for testing. Most of the journals are aligned to the Common Core, and therefore have made my planning more efficient.”

We Want to Move It! Move It!
Funded Apr 22, 2016Dear Donors,
I could never thank you enough for what you've done to transform my classroom with these partner play materials. My learners with Autism often have a hard time in social situations. The materials requested such as the partner parachute, and easy catch ball have been both motivating and useful in providing appropriate social activities for these wonderful teenagers. Now that the weather in New York City is warm, my students and I can have tons of educational fun outdoors!”

Piecing the Puzzle Together for Teens with Autism
Funded Apr 6, 2016Dear Donors,
I could never thank you enough for what you've done to transform my classroom with these new readers. As an educator of special needs teenagers, I often have trouble finding reading and math material that is both age appropriate and meaningful to my students. My students are now even more motivated to learn new ideas and concepts! My non readers enjoy the video instruction and abundance of visuals, while my readers love having materials they can relate to while they carry out their every day lives. THANK YOU!”

Sensory Integration for Increased Focus
Funded Apr 19, 2016Dear Donors,
Since receiving the multi-sensory materials, our class has been given many opportunities to explore them. Through exploration, my students have been able to meet their own sensory needs. It has been interesting to see which materials are most helpful in regulating my students complex sensory needs. The truth is, each student has a different preference. While one student needs the visual input of the sight and sound tubes, another needs to manipulate the thera-putty.
My students, and I could never thank you enough for what you've done to transform the environment of our classroom. The sensory materials are provided to the students throughout the day. Each student can acquire a vibrating bug, a sensory brush, sensory shapes, whenever they need it. This has helped further an environment of respect and student independence.”

Daily Living Skills for Teens with Autism
Funded Mar 4, 2013On behalf of my students and myself, I'd like to thank you for donating to this project. Your donations have allowed my class to receive materials they needed (such as adapted pitchers, visuals, etc..) to continually practice their daily living skills. My students learn best through hands-on practice. The materials you have provided will not only help these wonderful kids today, but for the rest of their lives. I have already seen progress in their skills. Not only am I proud of them, but more importantly the children are proud of themselves. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.”

Vocational Training for Students with Autism
Funded Feb 14, 2013I'd like to thank you for donating, and funding this project so that my students will have access to materials/appliances to practice their vocational training. All of my students have shown interest in the materials. I have created visual directions for the children to follow in order to use the vacuum, shredder, duster, steam mop, and sponges. Using a combination of these visuals, and physical prompting the children have already made progress in their vocational training. Their success would not have been possible without your generosity.”
