  • Microphone Headsets and Math Manipulatives!

    Funded Jan 21, 2022

Thank you so much for donating computer headsets with microphones for my third grade students. Since the students have been able to record their voices, they have been able to give feedback on their reading, explain how they have solved problems, narrated stories, and recorded reading for fluency practice. Due to Covid restrictions, it has taken students longer to learn to read and write. Using speech to text voice typing has enabled many of my students to write on the computer and be successful when they could not have achieved by writing alone. The quality of their recordings is so much better with the microphones. Thanks to this technology! The students have been successful even if they were behind in reading, writing, and spelling.

    Thank you for the.

Math manipulatives made it possible to understand abstract concepts using concrete activities. Thanks to Donor's choose , for making this fun learning possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Snelgrove

  • Outstanding Wise Learners (OWLS) Love to Choose Where to Sit

    Funded Oct 17, 2018

Thank you for providing the funds to add a choice of seating for our class! Each time we opened a new package the students got excited to try the new seats. Because the students get to choose, they sit where they can concentrate the best. Moving around the room throughout the day helps them release energy and feel a sense of control over their surroundings. Students are happier and more relaxed not being tied to a desk and chair, though some still choose to sit at a desk for certain assignments. Parents, administrators, substitutes, and other teachers have watched how our classroom functions and have expressed encouragement, compliments, and even a desire to do something similar for other students. I can truly say that our classroom is comfortable and welcoming because the students have accepted responsibility for their seating and behavior and want this to continue. Very few times have students been asked to go back to a desk to be able to focus and work better. Thank you for helping me provide more seating choices so all of my students have the chance to choose the best learning spot for them each day.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Snelgrove

We are OWLS--Outstanding Wise Learners! We start the day loudly cheering our class motto in English or quietly signing in American Sign Language. We use the world around us as a jumping off point for our learning, whether that is exploring how to solve mental math in the grocery store, discovering why ants swarm on the playground and how they interact with each other, or discovering that we live in a desert even though we get lots of snow. We make literature come alive by relating what read to our own lives and experiences. We learn cursive so we can read our grandparent's letters and study history. We are 21st Century learners who who use Chromebooks to learn keyboarding skills, develop our math and reasoning ability, and research amazing things that happen all over the world. Learning is what we do and we make it fun!
