  • Embracing All the Feels!

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

First, let me extend my heartfelt thanks for believing in my project enough to financially support it. By doing so, you've made a positive impact not only on my students but on the school as a whole.

As mentioned in my project profile, this year, I'm helping to support more students on the spectrum and was in need of sensory items to be able to make personalized sensory bags for them to use while in their other classes. Your generosity allowed me to FILL those bags with items that provided comfort in times of stress. These items helped my students manage their anxiety in a quiet way, but more importantly, they were able to remain in their class to receive instruction alongside their peers.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Peurach

  • Reading Is Our Superpower!

    Funded May 24, 2024

Greetings Mr. Marsh! Let me first begin by thanking you for being the sole donor of my project, Reading is our Superpower! When I received the email from Donors Choose stating that my project had been fully funded, I was extremely excited, but to learn that it was fully funded by one person was extra special! Your comments about the importance of early literacy were spot on and I try everyday to help my young scholars to become powerful readers.

Donors Choose had suggested that the materials be delivered at the end of August, but I commented that we're still in school until mid-June and to deliver ASAP:) Once the materials began arriving, I set up rotation stations for my children. The pictures that I've shared are of them during small group sessions. Their favorite game is Sneaky Elves, learning to read CVC words independently. Two 3rd graders took so well to the game that they've become the "teachers" for other groups...leadership and ownership of their learning in action thanks to you!

I wish you and your family a safe and fun-filled summer break!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Peurach

  • For Good Measure!

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

Your generosity has helped my children better understand how to accurately read a measuring tape and measure a variety of objects. Your donation is extra special because it doesn't just help my 5th graders, but it helps our ENTIRE school of kindergarteners through 8th graders. The children are understanding how to respect learning tools while at the same time seeing first hand the benefit to their lives. Our current unit is all about converting units of measurement and having a solid, dependable tool such as a tape measure has been invaluable.”

  • Can You Hear Me Now?

    Funded Oct 12, 2022

Your willingness to support my project, "Can You Hear Me Now?" has made a tremendous impact in such a positive and uplifting way. In our everyday lives here in school, we are fortunate to have 1:1 laptops, but we were missing high-quality headphones that were compatible with our devices.

Then you found my project and deemed it worthy of your generosity! I wish I could've video taped the class as I unpacked the two boxes and slowly revealed not one vibrant color of headphones, but six super popular colors! The oohs and ahhs made my heart so very happy!

We took the time to discuss where the headphones came from and how best to take care of them in a room of 31 busy children:) The class wants you to know that they appreciate you and your thoughtfulness, as well as the fact that the headphones make them look super cool while doing their schoolwork:)”

  • Feeling Zen in the Zen Zone

    Funded Jul 7, 2022

Saying thank you simply doesn't seem enough of a gesture to show how much we appreciate your kindness. The first ever TK8 Zen Zone is underway and your generosity has single-handedly made it happen.

My current class of fifth graders had an active role in designing the space and were thrilled to be involved. We started with the yoga mats being placed in an array, but the children decided to create more of a half-circle design in order to see one another better.

It's important to share that our space will evolve throughout the year. The children want to paint the room in soothing colors (they are researching this), redo existing bulletin boards with positive body and mind images and they want to have an Open House for their families..so many exciting moments still to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Peurach

  • Finding Our Inner Peace

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

We at Thompson can't express enough how grateful we are for your generous donations! The TK8 Zen Zone is a welcoming and safe space for all students and staff who need a sacred place to decompress, reflect, reset and recharge. The wall decor and lighting have made the space magical and inviting. The SEL class that I teach during our lunch hour has grown since the materials have been set up because, as the children say, "We feel safe and happy here." I know in my heart that because of your help, the TK8 Zen Zone will only continue to evolve and become the best spot on our community campus.”

  • We're All Ears!

    Funded Aug 23, 2019

Your generous gift of a class set of headphones has been a game changer for me and my students!

We are required to take multiple online tests throughout the school year and portions of those tests have audio directions. I also utilize Flipgrid, which is a video platform and requires students to listen to other posted videos. In the past, students have brought cheap earbuds to school, however, they regularly broke or were lost within days and we were left scrambling to find replacements.

Well, thanks to you, we will be set for a few years!! I sincerely appreciate you thinking that my project was worth your donation.”

  • Don't Walk in the Hallway!

    Funded May 6, 2019

Your generosity has helped us transform our hallways into energetic athletic stations for our entire K-8 community. The activity mats are colorful, with eye-catching images that cause anyone walking by to pause and take a moment to stretch, hop, toe-touch and even run in place. By stopping for just a brief amount of time, everyone is able to do a body and mind reset and then move on to wherever they need to be. Some teachers have used the mats in their classroom as "Musical Mats", setting them up in a circle and having their students walk from mat to mat. When the music stops, the students stop and do the activity shown. Just recently, a class completed a "circuit" of mats by walking to each mat that was placed throughout the school and doing the activity shown until they completed all 15.

The mats are helping with our inside recess days as well. The noon-aides are able to easily group the children and take them around the "circuit" and keep them active in a positive way instead of simply sitting in a classroom right after their lunch. The benefits of these mats are limitless and I truly can't thank you enough for believing in this project and helping to make it a reality!”

  • Moving Keeps Us Alive!!

    Funded Mar 16, 2018

Your generosity has had a positive impact on my children. I have two classes of 5th graders and many of them are boys who have an abundance of energy on a daily basis. The Sitting Stepper, Chair Bands, and Trideer have been a blessing for myself and of course for the children who beg to use them while working.

The Sitting Stepper is portable and small enough to fit under our tables and desks without bothering other students close by. I have noticed that when a student chooses to use the Sitting Stepper, they tend to have a bit more focus on the task at hand. They pride themselves in signing them out and wiping them off should they get dirty from their shoes. It's nice to see them be responsible and take ownership of our new materials!

The Trideer is a fun seat cushion that is a hit in our room. The students bring them to carpet time, they are easy to clean and are very durable.

My favorite product is the Chair Band! What a revolutionary concept. I was able to order an entire class set, so every chair has one attached. The students have found that being able to bounce their legs on the bands has helped settle them down. The bands are surprisingly durable with only one snapping in the 2 months we have been using them. I'd say that's a hit!

Your generosity has proven invaluable and you are truly appreciated for investing in my children!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Peurach

Moving is essential, this we all know. However, the reality is that many of my students don't get the necessary physical activity they require to be as healthy as they can be. The Fitter Sitter & Sitting Stepper in our classroom will allow my children to get that physical activity they normally wouldn't get while learning at the same time. It's a Win, Win situation!! The Fitter Sitter & Sitting Stepper are simple products with vast benefits for my regular students as well as those with ADHD who tend to struggle with self-management and focus. Having these products available in my classroom will enable a sense of renewed focus for those students who need it the most!
