Toys to Promote Creativity

Thank you so much for all of your donations. As each new box arrived over the past few weeks, we all gathered on the rug to open them and the kids were bursting with excitement. I wish you could have been there to see the looks on their smiling faces.

The power of learning through play in school is something that I cannot put into words. Through daily play, students find their passions, learn problem solving skills, build relationships with others, and develop the joy of being a lifelong learner. As a kindergarten teacher, I devote time every day for free play, just as I do for reading, writing, math and science. This project has made such an impact on my classroom already and the joy the students have had with their new play options is so much fun to see. Every day at 12:45 when free choice time begins, the kids are buzzing with excitement.

Just last week, the kids were working hard to build a tower with the magnet blocks and they were so determined to build one so tall that it was taller than their teacher. As it got taller and taller, the excitement grew and grew. They were collaborating and planning on what they could do to reach the top to add the next layer. When they used all of the blocks in the entire bin, there was a loud cheer and the whole class came over to celebrate their achievement. There will be so many more memories just like this, thanks to your donations to support my project. I truly appreciate all of you.”
