The students in my second grade class are primarily English Language Learners. The community in which they live affords them little in the way of enrichment experiences. A major source of enjoyment is entering my classroom which is filled with books. As the year progresses, I see them becoming more and more enthusiastic about self selecting books from our classroom library in order to meet Accelerated Reader Goals as well as for the pure joy of reading.
