  • Never Miss a Beat

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

Students no longer worry about the plastic from their previous headphones sticking to their ears. Thanks to your generous contribution, students received much needed headphones. The headphones are used routinely. Specifically, the students utilized them during small group reading fluency and comprehension instruction. There is a reading intervention program that model reads for them based on the ebook selected for their small group. The students appreciated that the headphones came in a variety of colors. They repeatedly expressed their gratitude when they received the headphones and snacks. The snacks were a bonus. The next steps are for the students to complete all requirements and pass their reading assessment to be exited out of the course. No worries! The headphones will be used beyond the reading course. Students enjoy listening to music with the headphones as they complete assignments independently in core classes.”

  • The Power of Play With Lego Sets

    Funded Aug 10, 2024

The Power of Play With Lego Sets has allowed high performing students in academics to take a much needed pause to enjoy play with Lego sets. For one hour on Tuesdays after school, students meet to build, communicate and disconnect from the daily heaviness of taking college level and accelerated academic courses. When students first saw the Lego sets they were like "wow, we are building a replica of the White House!"

About this project, it came about for students who are learning to balance school work with down time. Our school prepares students to compete in global readiness through 21st century rigorous academic courses. With this expectation, students are working during and after school hours. The Power of Play With Lego Sets offer students an opportunity to tap into being a kid beyond school and technology.”

  • Cutler Bay Shark Tutors

    Funded May 6, 2024

thanks to your generosity, my business students were able to make their tutoring service a success! The Cutler Bay Shark Tutors utilized the calculators, papers, rulers, pencils and snacks to support weekly tutoring sessions. The students were absolutely amazed to receive much needed supplies that allowed them to effectively tackle geometry one problem at a time. During the launching of the project, we created a logo, purchased goodie bags, and filled it with snacks and a small bottle of water. The students who were being tutored really appreciated having the goodie bags. After being in school all day, it was a perfect incentive to give them. This year, the students are taking a state required Personal Finance course. In order to continue the project, they would need to create a fundraiser to raise money to purchase more snacks. From the Personal Finance course, students will learn how to raise funds and manage money (budgeting). The biggest lesson they are learning is how to be servant leaders. Creating a business venture to operate beyond a school year is one of the greatest lessons the project accomplished.”

  • Changemakers Through Leadership and Service

    Funded Aug 9, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting our class project Changemakers Through Leadership and Service. Students in the Leadership courses learned valuable skills applicable to building relationships as well serving the community. Reading in my classroom is an independent task. Students read at different paces and can engage more with the text through self-monitoring. Students track their reading using an online reading log. The reading log also serves as a reflection tool. Equally important, students are able to apply knowledge learned from the book "Taking People With You," during our class project for Lead 4 Change. Your generosity afforded my students a resource supporting life lessons on team dynamics, inclusion, and effective communication. These words cannot truly express how much we appreciate your support.”

  • March Madness Bonanza

    Funded Apr 13, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting our March Madness project. My business students were able to apply entrepreneurship skills to plan, organize, and create a real-life carnival game station. Allowing students to have real-world experience gives them a chance to better understand how money works. Two of the most popular games were the egg race and the basket toss. Students also gained life skills in terms of communicating, collaborating, and leadership. Words cannot express my sincerest gratitude for your financial support to my March Madness project.”

  • Cheer Spirit and Hype!

    Funded Jan 11, 2023

After a long day in the classroom, the Cheer squad expressed they needed snacks. The Cheer Spirit and Hype project provided the Cheer squad snacks during one of our extended practices in preparation for Jingle Bowl, a school-wide winter competition. The team truly enjoyed the variety of snack options meeting the interests of each member. With great excitement and appreciation, one of the captains expressed, oh my this is my favorite! The Cheer Spirit and Hype project also provided the Cheer squad essentials such as a megaphone for captains to be heard amongst the chaos surrounding each practice. We share the field with other athletic teams. The noise level is amplified when more than one team is practicing on the field. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you for your kindness and support.”

  • Mental Health Breaks

    Funded Nov 4, 2022

The Mental Health Breaks were integrated into my lesson during the days leading up to Thanksgiving Recess. For my 9th graders, we moved beyond the classroom walls by engaging in free style activities outside using the stress ball and snacks. The 10th-12th grade students took a mental health break from their rigorous studies while remaining in the classroom. One student said, "teachers talk about mental health and taking breaks but you actually did something to support our mental health." The Mental Health Breaks project was inspired by my students who are taking 3 to 4 college level courses working endless hours, as well as my Freshmen who are having difficulties transitioning from middle to high school. The students' response when they first saw the stress balls and snacks, "is this really for us?" Words cannot express our gratitude for your support and contribution to my classroom.”

  • Love in A Box

    Funded Jan 26, 2022

I want to express my sincerest gratitude for your financial contribution to Love in a Box. This project was implemented in my 9th grade Business course. What an excellent way for students (CEOs are both women entrepreneurs) to learn about real-world application through entrepreneur mindset skills, marketing, and finance. Love in a Box inspired a second business project Bunny in a Box. Using the boxes for both projects along with the crinkle paper, candy, and polaroid pictures, the entrepreneurs practiced using goods to sell to customers -students and staff.

The students were excited when the materials first arrived as well as happy to see their project sell. The money they raised was donated to the school for activities fostering social engagement. The CEOs plan to continue Love in a Box as their community service project, possibly making gift boxes for a neighboring elderly facility during the holidays. Many thanks for your support in making business-entrepreneurship real and relevant.”

  • Start With Hello!

    Funded Nov 29, 2021

Start with Hello is intended to set school culture by making everyone, students, and staff alike feel included and a part of the team. After COVID impacted the current ninth grade students past two years online or hybrid instruction specially experiencing learning lag and social isolation, students needed support beyond traditional curriculum. Start with Hello offered class time to journal write and have real and meaningful discussions of what it means to feel socially engaged. Journal writing was a series of wellness entries. From how I feel today, to what it is like returning to "normal" routines, students enjoyed expressing themselves. What especially worked, we took a mental moment for snack time. The students displayed pure happiness to feel supported beyond academics. My students and me are truly appreciative for your contributions to the Start with Hello project.”
