When I first saw individuals were supporting our project and making donations I was overwhelmed with gratitude. My students are truly benefiting from this technology in more ways than one. It is helping to support and engage their math skills and number sense, along with letter identification, sight word recognition, and reading. It has encouraged teamwork and communication in small group settings. They've learned that by working together, they can accomplish more rather than working in isolation. They work together as a team and encourage each other to solve the puzzle or the problem. It is wonderful watching their appreciation for this new way of learning. They are so excited when they know we will be using OSMO Letters and Numbers that I often hear them say things like, "When is it my turn?" or "Can we use the OSMO's tomorrow?"

I believe that making learning fun and engaging helps students get excited about learning. Students are excited to practice skills they may not be confident with on OSMO because it is presented to them in a game-like fashion. OSMO has given every child in my class a feeling of success and accomplishment. I am able to meet a wider range of student's needs through remediation and enrichment with through the use of this technology. We are so beyond grateful for your support and donation of the materials.”

  • The Possibilities Are Endless with Technology!

    Funded Nov 20, 2015

    Dear Donors,

I want to personally say thank you for your generosity in donating to my 2nd grade class and making it possible for my students to have the opportunity to enhance their education with the addition of four brand new chrome books. The new technology has provided numerous opportunities for students to learn in a variety of ways.

The students love having the chrome books in our classroom and I love how the chrome books are creating not only independent learners but also students working together as partners. Students are able to strengthen their comprehension by taking quizzes after reading a book, they are also able to listen to stories on the chrome books which allows them to hear what fluent reading sounds like. The chrome books are also helping them in math with their math facts, differentiated lessons, and they now have access to a variety activities and videos correlated with their math program. According to the students, using a chrome book to research and compare dinosaurs facts is a lot more fun and productive than using a text book.

As I was reading through the students thank you letters I noticed many of them wrote they loved playing games on our new chrome books. Thank you for allowing them the opportunity to have fun while learning.

Watching the kids' faces light up when they were able to use the chrome books for the first time was priceless. They were so excited and most importantly so grateful to everyone who donated to our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lamson

My school is very diverse with students from all over the world, speaking many different languages. 10% are English Language Learners with limited or no English. We have students from various socioeconomic areas . 29% are students living in poverty. 3% of our students are GATE qualified. We are a large, year-round elementary school with a population of approximately 1,025 students. Within our population we also have students with various emotional, physical, and learning disabilities. In my 2nd grade classroom I have 25 students from different cultures, speaking different languages. There are families who are not able to purchase computers for their home and therefore students are not able to access technology at home. My students are an amazing group of "sponges" who soak up everything they are learning and often want to know more. Regardless of the different learning levels in our classroom, they are excited to be at school everyday and learn whatever they can.
