Mycenaean Mask Foil Relief
Funded Dec 14, 2021It was such a great experience for the students. They dot a chance to learn about repose technique and see many examples of this work. For many of the students they had never worked in any kind of metal. This amazing project allowed them the opportunity to work with metal and try different techniques for pushing and pulling it to create a design. The most interesting part of this project were the things the students decided that they wanted to commemorate or memorialize or memorialize in a plaque. Once the pulling and pushing of the metal was complete the students painted into all of the cracks Indian ink and wiped it away to create a sort of weathered and aged patina that without the Indian ink could not have been achieved In a single class period. The results of this project were quite amazing.”

Funded Nov 30, 2021This project was so much fun for everyone one, me included. They got a chance to make homemade paper. They used it to cover their junk journals that they had been working on all year.
We really did make the most out of all the materials. We used the blender to the point of burning it out.
The students have also had the opportunity to practice using a ruler to measure how spaced apart the section would be sewn in. They have also been able to use tools some of them had never used before like Awl and a needle and thread.
The books they have created are beautiful and so unique like each one of my students. I hope this project keeps them junk journaling for years to come.”

Funded Sep 20, 2021This is a project that everyone loves. There isn't any person that don't like a project with a secret revile. The students had to have a lot of patients to be able to do this project. Those that stuck with it make the most amazing pieces of art. I even had the student weren't typically so engaged in my art class really interested and happy with the results. The method of copying it on to the board with with a white transfer paper and selecting very detailed and textures animal images allowed for every professional looking finished product which had everyone feeling like they could make beautiful art regardless of natural ability.”

Funded Sep 18, 2021This was a great project for the students. In summary they were able to make a stamp of themselves. Not may students had had the chance to ever do block printing. They had a chance to learn how to transfer images on the the block and learn how to use a linoleum cutter. They were also able to do one on one printing session with me. In these session they got to select a watercolor and ink color to use. Then they learned how to roll out the paint evenly on to their brayer and on to their block. then they would press it on to their papers and use a barren to smooth it all out and make sure the ink transferred to the paper. It was so much fun working with each student.”

Funded Sep 20, 2021Thanks to all the materials we were able to do a project way beyond just STEAM. We did what I called a MASTERS lesson. We did math and talked about geometry and lines of symmetry. Art of course was creating the beautiful butterflies. We learned about the Monarch butterflies which was the science part. We used PowerPoint to document everything we had learned and show the experiments that they conducted in class. they then turned their PowerPoints into QR codes and put it in a poster. For engineering they had to create a 3 dimensional butterfly that is no larger than 24"x 12" that allows air and light to move around the installation and make sure that the medium used would stand up to the weather. R was reading. This one might be the most surprising. We read the Very Hungry Caterpillar and learned about the life of Eric Carl. We explored his art style in class and learn about his creative process. The second S was social studies. We did a little bit of geography too. Using a Google Maps video we were able to see the migration patterns of the butterflies and see how they moved through North America into Mexico. We were able to do this with a time laps video.
Our butterflies are now proudly displayed in our Butterfly garden and as the winter goes on we add more and more of them. We are mimicking the arrival of the butterflies to Mexico and as more arrive they are getting closer and closer to each other to keep warm.
This was a great project. I could not have been happier with it.”

Funded Sep 15, 2021Thank you for your support. We were able to do these amazing Japanese Ukiyo-e Watercolors. The students had so much fun doing it. They learned not only about Ukiyo-e Watercolor and the history behind it. The got to learn to use Indian Ink and it was also their first experience with mixing and making their own watercolors. Instead of just picking a ready made color from the pallet they mixed colors together to make their own and learned to layer them to achieve the richness and darkness they wanted. The students also got to participate in the 36th Annual Watercolor Expressions Exhibition.”

Funded Aug 26, 2021Thank you for this donation. With these donations I was able to purchase a great lesson plan packed with projects and activities for my students. These projects were all to teach the principles of art. The students have so far worked on contrast. In this project we talked about contrast and how complementary colors use contrast. They then worked with oil pastels and watercolors to do a resist project. They made a blue background with and orange and yellow giraffe. They had to cut out there giraffe and glue it to there background. The project came out very cute and you may have seen these projects posted on your child's ClassDojo.”
