We Need Books!

Every day during choice time in my classroom, kids have the option to choose a book to read in the library area. Thanks to you and Donors Choose, we have all kids of books to look at and read. I have been able to have books to read aloud to the children every day. There are a few friends that like to play teacher and read out loud to the class. Our classroom library books are used for read alouds to encourage language and vocabulary. It is so important to have good, high quality children's books available to instill a love of reading as they prepare for kindergarten. My eclectic classroom library creates opportunities for early reading experiences whether it be holding the book the right way or letter recognition. These books also allow me as a teacher to introduce language and new vocabulary words to my early childhood students every day. Thank you so much for making this happen!!”

I have a classroom of 20 3-5 year old students, some just starting school and some coming back for another year of prekindergarten. With students coming into prekindergarten at different academic and developmental levels, it is important to have the resources available to meet the needs of every student. My students come from diverse backgrounds and each have different needs that need to be met. They are all at their own stage of development which creates the need for a wide variety of materials.
