Student Sensory Selection
Funded Jan 23, 2019Thank you, for your donations and improving my classroom. The students loved the new fidgets and sensory items. They used them in times of stress and testing. Many used them daily to reduce anxiety from the day.
These items are used in the classroom for their sensory needs. They create little distraction and get the job done for the student . My students and myself love the addition to our classroom and are very grateful for the enhancement in our academic environment.
When my students first saw the unboxing of items they were thrilled and excited to see all the items to help them with their sensory needs and wants. They use them everyday and are sharing them with others in the classroom.”

Funded Sep 26, 2018Thank you for the flexible learning environment that you are giving my students. Students use all of a materials in ways I was thinking of at the time of wanting them. Students come into the room get what they want and start working on their tasks for the day.
The ball chairs help students with attention struggles to pay attention with the movement. Students with the need for movement use them for assessments and assignments keeping them focused on the task at hand. Students loved when the chairs were introduced and use them everyday to have a variety of learning styles.
The portable desk stands in the room make it possible for students to pick the environment on which is best for them to learn. Some use the desk for floor time. Others use them in different chairs for a hard surface to write on. They love the tilting of the desk with a computer and writing space. These have been a nice addition to the classroom.
My next steps for the project are to gather more flexible learning places. I would to get different types of chairs and tables that are tall for the students that like to dangle their feet. I am also trying to add some sensory items to the classroom for students to have access, too.
Thank you for all your support and generosity to my classroom.”

Capturing the Reluctant Reader
Funded Aug 28, 2018Thank you, Donors for your kind donations to my project for high interest and low reading level books for my classroom. These books will help my students to enjoy reading at their level without having to sacrifice their dignity, because of reading ability. The books will also help in building comprehension skills. Students who have trouble picking just rights books will have some different choices for their self-selected reading materials. Books that are high interest to students generate a want to read more and adding low reading level only helps the student want to improve their comprehension skills.
My classroom is mainly small group work. The books that I have picked are used to increase reading levels by working at their current level to build a strong structure to continue. When a student enjoys the content their are reading the comprehension goes up. Students have found delight in reading these books in small group instruction.
Some of my students struggle to pick a just right book for themselves to read for self-selected reading. These books give them the options rather than picked out by a teacher. My students are showing more independence in their reading choices.
My students have really enjoyed the new books and I have seen some real growth. Thank you!”
