My students are in a tier 2 reading intervention class. 100% of the 74 students fall below the expected levels of accomplishment (called benchmarks) and are at some risk for academic failure. The needs of these students are identified through the assessment process, and instructional programs are delivered that focus on their specific needs. Instruction is provided in smaller groups. In my Reading Activity class the goal to accelerate student achievement. The desired outcomes raising reading and comprehension capabilities is worked on daily using a systematic data driven process. All students participate in Whole group, small group, individualized computer application, and independent reading activities. Students track their manage and growth. Often in this process students find both joy and a sense of accomplishment as they complete novels.
