Students in my classroom are reading at higher and more complex levels than their average peers. They generally move through reading material at a faster pace as well, and we are often searching for new and good reading material. It is not always easy to find access to good quality literature that is both appropriate and meets their needs as readers. With these books, our students can complete novel study/book clubs that will allow them to daily read and discuss what they are learning with their classmates. To be successful, students need to read more than what they read during the school day. Due to the socioeconomic status of our school, many families do not have the means to provide books for their students. These books will allow students to have access to books that they can take home and read alone or with their parents. In addition, students will be exposed to rich vocabulary and themes more often than if they are only reading the material and books we have access to at our school.
