A color printer would be an amazing asset and allow for endless possibilities in my classroom. Using a color printer would enable students to search the internet for graphics, charts, graphs or photographs that will enhance their many projects and presentations. Many students do not have the ability to print at home, so having a printer right in their very own classroom would be an invaluable tool and excellent motivator. As a teacher, being able to print in color will allow me to create wonderful visual aids that can help students understand complex concepts in science. I can create exciting and attention grabbing math games, and add interest to handouts (such as interpreting data with bar graphs, which can be easier to comprehend when in color). I believe that color engages students to help keep them more focused on their assignments. Finally, I am a proponent of flexible seating in my classroom. I have purchased with my personal funds, several pieces of furniture to incorporate flexible seating, and it is a hit with the kids! They are incredibly engaged in their work and tell me how happy it makes them. I would like to add a tall counter height table to accommodate the students who prefer to stand up while working.
