Recently, a student approached me to ask if I would sponsor a book club that she wanted to put together for students. "Why do you want a new book club?" I asked her. She told me about how she has found books that she loves, that she didn't always love reading, and that she thinks she can share this book love with other students and make it grow. She wants to focus on issues that affect urban teens.
In our club, we enjoy reading, building friendships, and motivating each other to see that something important can also be fun. The Urban Teens Book Club discusses problems in today’s society and reads great books. We need your help to get the books that students connect with, which sparks that love for reading and builds our community through those shared experiences.
