Next year, I will have an energetic group of five year olds enter my classroom. My goal is to provide the best academic environment for them in order to foster a love of learning. I hope to offer my students age appropriate seating options for their active minds and bodies. The seating options that I am requesting will help me provide a classroom that encourages choice and individual learning style. If you walked into my classroom today, you would see a room cluttered with tables and chairs. Most of the day students are kneeling on their chairs, standing while their chairs are are pushed out behind, or students constantly fidgeting in their seats. Sitting at a desk and chair for seven hours a day is an unrealistic expectation, especially for five year olds. With flexible seating options, students will have the option to sit on a wobble stool, where they can move around safely while working. The seat cushions will be used as an option sit on the floor yet still allowing them to maintain personal space. The book bins will used to store each student's materials which will move with them throughout the day. Please help my students get the wiggle room they need and the opportunity to learn in a comfortable, age appropriate setting. Thank you for taking the time to look at my project.
