Funded Oct 17, 2019Thank you so much for sending me to this exceptionally diverse conference that provided a plethora of new ideas to use in my classroom.
I thoroughly enjoyed learning about neon reading and implemented it into my classroom as soon as I returned from the conference. I also learned about a lot of new online websites that will benefit my third grade students. Last, I appreciated the section about bringing social studies back into the classroom, where I was introduced to some fantastic new techniques and ideas about incorporating social studies into my reading curriculum.
This conference was a ton of fun and incredibly beneficial to my teaching career!”

Funded Oct 23, 2019Thank you so much for allowing me to attend the Get Your Teach On conference in Los Angeles. I was able to learn so many awesome new teaching strategies at this conference. First, I took away some awesome call and response activities to easily engage my class. I was also provided with a list of awesome technological resources and websites that I can use with my students in class on an everyday basis. We also took part and learned how to incorporate close reading and glow in the dark highlights. SO COOL!
I've used many of these strategies in my classroom already, and plan to incorporate more as the year continues!
Thank You!”

Funded May 13, 2019After 16 years of teaching I have come to understand that often times, the basics are hard to get. We, as teachers, often spend our own money to buy supplies like markers, crayons, folders, and pencil boxes. You name it, we buy it. Often times, basic supplies are what we need most.
For this reason, it was so exciting to have donors help to fund this project! Without enough pencils, a classroom cannot function. We use pencils everyday and they are an essential party of learning!
Now that we have boxes and boxes of pencils we are ready to work all year long! Thank you so much for your generosity!”

Funded Sep 7, 2018I am so thankful for classroom easel that I received through Donor's Choose with the help from you all.
The easel is a tool that we use in the classroom on a daily basis. Having the easel placed near our classroom carpet creates a learning center in our classroom that did not exist before. Children can sit on the carpet with their white boards while I model math problems. The awesome thing about the easel is that I can complete problems on posters with students, and we can reference back to the posters days or even weeks later.
We've also used the easel to help us with our writing. We've worked to create opinion paragraphs and learn about the writing process. With the posters on the easel, I am able to demonstrate parts of a paragraph and help students through the pre-writing stage, all the way to a published piece of work.
I also really enjoy the storage on our easel. The baskets at the bottom provide extra space for storing classroom tools like pencils and glue sticks.
Thank you so much for your donations!”

Funded Oct 19, 2010I am writing this letter to thank you for the generous donation that you gave to my second and third grade combination class. Thanks to your program my class received a new, up to date, Dell computer. In a time when resources are scarce in public education, a modern computer that actually works, is a rare amenity.
My class has been using the new computer in a myriad of ways. First, the kids are constantly playing math games that are directly related to California Content Standards. These math games are helping them to memorize their multiplication facts which is a difficult, but important standard that is stressed in grades 2 and 3. The kids are also using the computer to do research reports and look up information about our language arts and science studies. For the current unit, 2nd graders spent time researching animals that camouflage, and third graders researched famous artists of the past such as Picasso. They have also been using the computer to research the planets and solar system, another fascinating area of study for my second and third graders. Last, my students have also used the computer to learn basic Word formatting skills. They have learned how to copy and paste pictures, how to double space, and how to change font styles and sizes; all important skills as they continue in their education.
Once again, I would like to thank you for the generous donation and for all that you do to support the educational system.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Dean
