Sand Table Fun for Pre-K
Funded Sep 29, 2015The students in my class were so excited to see a brand new sand table. They were able to use it immediately. We now have a safe place to extend our activities outside the classroom. The students have been using the table to explore a variety of activities. We have used wet and dry sand for measurement and molding castles. We have used the dry sand for drawing letters, words, numbers and a treasure hunt. The sand table allows the students to engage in many language and social skill activities with peers.
We will continue to use the sand table as part of our everyday activities throughout the school year.”

Bikes for Tikes
Funded Oct 14, 2014As each tricycle entered our room, one by one, the student's eyes grew wide and smiles appeared on their little faces. One of my Pre-K students said to me, "are those for us"? He was so excited and could not believe his eyes. As I began to reply, the other children gathered around to see and share in the excitement. One yelled, hooray! Another asked "where did they come from"? It was my joy to tell them that they are very lucky and special children and that the tricycles were donated by people that want them to have fun while they are at school.
The students will use their tricycles to increase strength and develop gross motor skills which will allow them to become more active at school and home. They will also increase coordination skills. The students will become more social as they will engage in learning how to share. They will become more aware of their surroundings as they will have to pay close attention to safety guidelines.
Having the tricycles allows for more options and activities during outside time. The students will gain self-esteem as they become more independent. They will increase language skills as they play with each other which leads to higher cognitive development.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, nothing can make me smile more than seeing my students happy.”
