  • Pre-K Art

    Funded Oct 8, 2024

Thank you for your generosity and support for my students. The introduction to using the new materials went smoothly. Allowing the students to explore using the new inkpads was exciting for them. They loved the colors and were fascinated as they created pictures of many different impressions using a variety of stamps in a small group setting.

In addition to the ink pads, we also started using the water paints for creative representation. This was the first experience using paint for many of my students. it was fun letting them explore as they created artwork and mixed colors for a new learning experience.

As the students use these materials they are increasing their fine motor skills by strengthening their muscles in their hands without even realizing they are learning.

Thank you again for your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lisa Clifford

  • Updated Materials

    Funded Oct 11, 2023

The students were very excited to see the new dry erase boards for shared reading and cubbies for their blankets.

The first thing we had to do was label each board and cubie with each child's symbol and name so they can identify which one belongs to each classmate.

The first activity on the boards was a shared writing activity. The students had to draw or print a message to tell a classmate what they had played with during our worktime. Then they had to explain what they had written or drawn, creating opportunities for social interactions , language and inventive writing.

The students will continue to use the boards as a daily activity in our schedule and the cubbies to identify where they go everyday.

Our class appreciates your donation and investment in our school.”

  • Color My World

    Funded May 9, 2023

Thank you for your help in completing my paint crayon project. My students enjoy being creative while playing in the art area. The paint crayons are an amazing asset to our Art Area. They have bright colors and need no dry time.

The paint crayons are the perfect size to help support fine motor skills. The students can access them independently, use them with ease, and increase self esteem with their finished project.

Since introducing the paint crayons to our class, I have noticed in increase of interest in creativity and social skills because the students want to play together.”

  • Write Away!

    Funded Jan 18, 2023

Thank you for helping my students expand their interest as they learn through play. My students were very excited to have the new supplies and began using them immediately. The blotters will help them increase fine motor skills as they are practicing a proper grip on writing manipulatives. The stencil also increases those skills as they trace around the cut outs. The staplers are being used to create books of artwork that are in our class book area.

Your kindness is very much appreciated by my students and myself.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lisa Clifford

  • Ready, Set, Let's Write, Draw, and Create

    Funded Oct 3, 2022

Thank you very much for your generosity. Supporting my students growth and development is my way to give back to my community. My class supports some of our youngest learners and their love of learning begins in my classroom.

The write and wipe board and Magna-tiles received were presented as gifts to our class. The students were very excited and eager to start using them right away. First was the Magna-tiles cars, they were a great addition to our current collection. The students love creating different vehicle designs and having discussion with each other promoting lots of language and literacy opportunities.

The easel is a huge hotspots in the room, promoting creative writing opportunities. The easel is currently in the art area but will be promoted to all learning areas to encourage writing opportunities.

Thank you again for your thoughtful donations.”

  • We Are PUZZLED?

    Funded Apr 4, 2022

My students were very excited to receive the new puzzles. They were first introduced in a small group setting. This allowed for them to engage with turn taking as each child had to place one piece of puzzle in at a time as the base was passed around. We then broke into groups of two for a small team activity. Once the students became more familiar with using the puzzles they were added to our toy area for independent use.

The students love the bright colorful designs and details of the animals.

Thank you for brightening my students imagination and being a part of their growth and development.”

  • Imagination Station

    Funded Mar 1, 2022

Thank you for choosing my class to support. It was inspired by my student's imaginative play. On one particular day, a student was dressed up in a mailperson costume and was having difficulty expanding on his play. He said to me, Ms. Lisa, I wish I had a mailbox to deliver my mail. So of course, I took out a basket and created one for him. This was acceptable to him but not for me. I wanted him to have the opportunity to expand his play using a toy mailbox. It turned out, he was absent on the day of my reveal. When he returned to school he had quite a surprise waiting for him. Now he and many others, enjoy dressing up and are creating letters to deliver expanding on our daily literacy.

In addition to the mailbox, I saw a need to add a second cash register to my House Area. I have a huge interest in grocery shopping. It is difficult for my young students to understand long wait times. The second register has created more language opportunities and less frustration with sharing and turn taking.

I was also in need of replacing my write and wipe pockets, these are essential to our daily sign-in activities. They are used for many different activities by changing the inside pages.

Thank you again for your support and dedication to Donorschoose.”

  • Webcams for Pre-K

    Funded Nov 20, 2021

I am so appreciative of your thoughtfulness in funding my project. Technology is the key to our future. Even the youngest of learner's are picking up these skills at an incredible rate. QR codes is creating opportunities in making life easier for the next generation.

The webcams in my classroom are being used on the computers that were previously funded through donorschoose. My students are using the webcams to scan QR codes. This is allowing them to be very independent when it comes to logging into their daily computer assignment. My students take pride in their independent success.

    Thank you,”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lisa Clifford

  • Let's Paint!

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you so much for your help in funding my class project. The paint and smocks will be used in the classroom in many projects. The most important will be creative representation. Everyone sees art using a different perspective. My art projects allows my students to tell a story. In my class we use the "tell me" method. This allows the students to describe their art to each other creating language and social opportunities.

Your generosity will bring lots of learning opportunities to life.

    Thank you,”

  • Hear My Voice

    Funded Sep 28, 2021

The materials I received were put into daily use immediately. The voice output device is being used as a planning tool for everyday planning and recall time. The students are working together to use the device to plan and recall activities that they want or were engaged with during the day. It is allowing the nonverbal students to communicate with peers and creates social opportunities for all students.

The single button devices are being used around the classroom in different centers for simple requests like I need help, I need the bathroom, come play with me, and requesting a turn using toys. The students are identifying the need for the tools and using them as their voice to engage in cooperative learning. The role models students are bringing the devices to their peers and showing them how to request by pushing on the device to express themselves and their needs.

The feelings card is being used in our safe place space. It is allowing my students to identify feelings and express themselves by pointing to pictures that describe how they feel.

The PECS book is improving student communication throughout the school day. This fully-loaded book came with everything ready to use to promote communication.

With continued practice every day the students will improve social skills, communication, self-esteem, and total engagement in the daily routine.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

The twenty, pre-kindergarten students in my class range between ages 4-5 years old. They are in an inclusion setting, which means half of my population has been identified as students with special needs and the other half are typically developing children. The students with disabilities have developmental delays in cognitive impairments, social skills, motor skills and/or language skills; or have been identified with Autism. The typically developing students act as role model peers to help model appropriate behavior and speech. They work collaboratively in centers and teacher directed activities to gain skills to reach their highest potential. The students attend a public school in Florida, that service the surrounding community.
