HELP! Eager Readers Running Out of Books! Send Home Libraries!
Funded Sep 9, 2020I wish you could have seen the kids faces when they showed off their brand new books! I was able to package up all the books you sent the kids into individual bags and families came by the school and picked them up.
When kids came on to our online classes that day they were so eager to show off all their books. It sounds a little too-good-to-be-true, but a girl in my class actually said, "I'm only going to ask for books from Santa this year." A mom sent me a text of her son displaying all of his new books proudly.
Thank you for bring the joy of reading to my students even during this hectic time.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Kyle Schwartz

Funded Aug 9, 2020We have started the school year virtually which means so many things are new and different. I am pleased to report that one thing is the same. Kids LOVE to read. It has actually been one of their favorite parts of the day. After a reading lesson kids have 20 minutes to read on their own (many beg for extra time too!). I had noticed that kids were reading the same book over and over. For some, this is because 2nd graders like to reread familiar books, but for other I knew it was because they didn't have many books around. That's all changing thanks to you.
Yesterday I told students that they each were getting a bag JAM PACKED with new books. (I really mean jam-packed-- if I tried to get one more book in their it would have ripped.) I showed kids the books on our video meeting and kids were jumping up and down on their beds and screaming. One student said, "Miss, I'm going to read these books until I am 24 years old... no, until I'm 100 years old."
You have send joy to my classroom and I will forever be grateful.”

Books! Books! Books! Spark a LOVE of Reading in Children
Funded Mar 6, 2020Thank you so much for sending such incredible books to my students. The books you send us arrived before our school abruptly shifted to remote learning so kids did have the opportunity to read your books.
When we did shut down, I took several of these books home. Even virtually, kids were able to read your books. I read some of your books like I Love My Hair to the class during our virtual lessons. It means so much that we had such amazing books even in such an time of uncertainty. Thank you for supporting my students.”

Funded Mar 6, 2020Thank you so much for sending these amazing books to my students. Luckily, the books arrived before our school abruptly moved to remote learning last year. Kids did had the opportunity to read the books in the classroom and I also grabbed your books to use during remote learning.
Kids really like the book Leila in Saffron and My Papi Has a Motorcycle. I was able to record myself reading these books and send out lessons to my students. It was such a blessing to have such high quality, beautiful books to read to my students even in this uncertain time.”

Funded Oct 24, 2019Thank you so much for choosing my classroom to send such wonderful resources to. While we were still in school last year, kids were able to use all of these school supplies. We wrote books, created posters, composed essays.
When we shifted to remote learning very suddenly last year, I was able to raid my cabinets and send home much of these supplies with students. I grabbed some bags lined them all up and added the pencils, post-its, and paper you sent us to each kid's bag. Thanks to you kids had the basics at home to continue their school work.”

Funded Feb 20, 2020Thank you so much for sending my students such amazing books. The books you sent us arrived before schools were shut down due to the COVID 19 pandemic, so kids have already read them and the books are ready and waiting for kids when school goes back in session.
Kids especially loved the books about Tigers. I used the books to teach kids about nonfiction text features like tables of contents, captions, and glossaries. I was excited to find out that we have a new science curriculum and the first unit is about the ecosystem on a tiger reserve! This is going to allow for cross-disciplinary learning. The things they learn in science will help them become better readers!”

Send a HUGE Box of Books to Eager Readers!
Funded Feb 19, 2020Thank you so much for sending these books to my students. These books all arrived before schools closed down due to the COVID pandemic so kids got to read them all. Kids LOVE the Girls Survive series. It's a series of historical ficition books featuring very relatable girl characters and great illustrations. The books got my students so curious about historical events. As soon as they finished one book, they were already asking for another one.
The other series you sent us is the Yazmin series. It features a Pakistani-American girl who explores many different carrers and topics. Kids in my class loved to see a character they could relate too.
I'm so excited for kids to read these books again whe school is back in session!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Kyle Schwartz
