She-Ker-E Shake!
Funded Mar 16, 2019THANK YOU for your amazing generosity in giving to this project. The students were so excited the day our new shekeres arrived.
Last year, I really struggled with getting my students engaged in learning about music; I just couldn't get them to care because it wasn't relevant to them. This year is completely different. Since introducing the World Music Drumming curriculum, and now having some of the actual drums and accessory instruments (i.e. the shekeres) that this curriculum was designed for, has been a life-changer. We use these shekeres every class I see my General Music students (every other school day) and they actually enjoy coming to my class! Through playing the drumming ensembles, my students learned about teamwork, focus, respect for others, collaboration, and listening skills.
A real highlight of our semester was the collaboration we did with the school's Arts Showcase. For the first time in many of my students' lives, they experienced the excitement of performing for a large audience... an experience they will never forget. These shekeres helped make that happen.”

Funded Sep 17, 2018THANK YOU for your amazing generosity in giving to this project. The students were so excited the day our new world drums arrived; it was like Christmas morning in my music room.
Last year, I really struggled with getting my students engaged in learning about music; I just couldn't get them to care because it wasn't relevant to them. This year is completely different. Since introducing the World Music Drumming curriculum, and now having some of the actual drums this curriculum was designed for, has been a life-changer. We use these drums for every class I see my General Music students (every other school day) and they actually enjoy coming to my class. (These students were placed in my class, because all of the other elective classes filled up.) Through playing the drum ensembles, my students learned about teamwork, focus, respect for others, collaboration, and listening skills. All skills that these drums made possible.

Getting in Tune With Each Other!
Funded Nov 29, 2017THANK YOU so much for your generous donations to help purchasing our new tuners a reality!
As we are busy preparing for our next performance, my students are really excited to have this opportunity to use this technology to help them play more in tune with each other. The impact on the entire Band has been incredible.
In particular, my beginning trombone players have really enjoyed the help of the tuners with learning their slide positions. In the past, they had to "guesstimate" where to stop their slide, but now the tuners give them an accurate visual as they are learning.
Once again, THANK YOU for making a difference in my classroom.”

Funded Aug 17, 2017Thank you so much for your wonderful support in my project. My students were so excited to receive the new tuners. The tuners are used daily with several of my students and has made such a positive impact with getting them to play their instrument in tune.
The tuners have most impacted my trombone players with getting their slide positions in the precise placement; especially my beginning trombone players, who are just learning how far out their slide needs to go to produce the correct pitch. Not only does this excite them, it keeps the class pace moving, when they are learning new notes.”

Funded Mar 17, 2016This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donations to my band program. Our band program has experienced tremendous growth each year, since opening the school eight years ago, but without the continued support of donors like you, we would not be able to continue to spread our love of making music.
My students and I are currently using these drums during our class time, community performances, and even just coming in during lunch to hang-out... my students are LOVING them. Now, through your help, additional students will experience the joy of making music.
As seen in a picture, even our school faculty are coming in to play with the students... this was a very special moment that allowed my students to connect with another adult, whom they usually only saw as a science teacher.
Our next steps is to invite additional, non-Band students, to join in the Drum Circle. I have contacted local musicians to assist us with officially organizing the circle and to teach us some additional techniques.”

Funded Sep 13, 2013THANK YOU for your generous donations. My students and their parents were very excited to see this important project funded.
The addition of the Instrument Repair Kit and Book has made a significant impact in my classroom. Several of my students have older instruments and not having to send instruments to the local music store to get fixed has reduced loss of instructional time and has saved my band families repair expenses. (The average wait time for a repair, taken to the local music store, is one week.)
I teach my students how to properly care for their instruments and to prevent wear and tear, but woodwind pads are not meant to last forever. One of the best and most used section from this kit has to be the supplies to repair woodwind pads... the heat lamp, special glue, tools and a selection of pads to fit every instrument. AMAZING.
This Instrument Repair kit is simply the best.”

Funded Feb 3, 2012This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donations to my band program. Our band program has experienced tremendous growth each year, since opening the school three years ago, but without the continued support of donors like you, we would not be able to continue doing so.
My students and I are currently using these trombones during our recruiting demonstrations at our feeder elementary schools and the fifth graders are LOVING them. Now, through your help, two additional students each year will experience the joy of making music and being in our band program.
