Visualize This! Part 1
Funded Jan 13, 2012Thank you for your kind donations to my Boardmaker project. I am so excited to utilize this computer software to help me create visual charts for my students. There are so many avenues to explore, including print and interactive options. My partner teacher and I have created a recess options poster to help our assistants and students organize where they are going during recess. They now follow a visual schedule on the board and some have an individual schedule that they manipulate at their desks.
The Boardmaker software also provides interactive visual lessons that students can access on the computer. This allows me to create individual skill lessons that will give them additional time to master important concepts. I am very grateful for this important resource that my students and I will use daily in the classroom. Thank you for helping them become more successful learners!”

Funded Dec 3, 2011I am so thrilled to receive these valuable resources for my class. Thank you for the visual calculators! My students love using them and now look forward to math groups. They struggle with understanding multiplication and division concepts, especially multiple step word problems. These calculators not only provide the answer at a push of a button, but visually show them how to solve the problem. This is so important as they need to learn the process, not just the answer. These visual calculators show my students the steps to solving the problem.
Thank you for providing these important visual resources for my students. They are visual learners and gain much understanding when information is presented in this manner. With so many projects that need help, I especially appreciate your support of my class and their needs. Thank you!”

Funded Dec 13, 2011Thank you kind donors for your support of my class! We recently received a donation of used computers, but some of the monitors were not working properly. Thanks to you, we have 3 new monitors to use daily. My students have special needs and use computer-based intervention programs daily for language arts and math. Our previous monitors flickered and changed color frequently, which distracted my students. Now they rush to use the computers with the new monitors. The quality is fantastic and so clear!
With this project we also received speakers. We desperately needed speakers, as I was constantly borrowing some from my neighbor teacher. I use speakers daily during math instruction when I play the interactive DVD. Some of my students needed speakers to use during assessment periods and small group activities. Now we don't have to borrow them and can set up technology areas permanently. Thank you for your generous support! We appreciate all of the resources we receive.”

Funded Jan 28, 2012Thank you very much for all of the resources on bullying and the laptop computer. My students have benefited greatly from your generosity. I love the literature and have used it to teach students what bullying is and how to prevent it. This has helped my class immensely, as we have both bullies and victims of bullying in my class. My students are recognizing that bullies also need understanding and positive role modeling to learn how to interact appropriately with others.
I teach students with special needs and they are frequently bullied by others due to their differences and limited reading abilities. This variety of literature is teaching them they are not alone and have resources to access when they are being bullied. My students that bully others are building confidence in their abilities by using the laptop to create projects and build reading skills by accessing intervention programs. We now have conversations about cyber bullying and challenges they might encounter in middle school. The anti-bullying resources and the laptop computer have opened dialogue about bullying and helped my students build confidence in themselves. With a more positive self-image, they are better able to deflect bullying.
A special thanks to Townsend Press for your generous support of my class and all teachers. I am so appreciative of these resources and will use them with student for years to come. My sincere thanks for your kindness!”

Funded Dec 3, 2011Thank you for supporting my class with your generous donations! Thanks to you, my students are reading independently on the 3 KIndles we received. They are greatly motivated to read when they can choose from so many books right at their fingertips. The illustrations are great and with the ink technology, their eyes don't get tired like they would on a computer. Some of my students are not interested in using the computer for reading intervention. Now they have the option of using the Kindles instead.
My students and I are so grateful to receive this valuable reading technology! With budget constraints, it can be so difficult to purchase the additional resources we need. This is especially true for students with special needs who require extra resources to help them meet grade level standards. Thanks to your generosity, our class is reading independently more often, which will lead to higher fluency scores and increased comprehension. Thank you for having such a positive impact on my students now and in years to come. ”

My students that bully others are building confidence in their abilities by working as a team when playing the bells. They love learning a new instrument and work together to play different songs. The anti-bullying resources and the bells have helped my students build confidence in themselves while learning to work cooperatively with others.
