  • Dressing for Success

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

My students have been using their dressing frames to learn and practice tying their shoes as well has zippering. The students are so excited to use the dressing frames that some students stepped up to show how they have learned to tie their shoes and teaching their peers.

My students were interested and happy practice and master skills that they know they need to improve while using the dressing frames.

My students will continue to practice their dressing skills using the dressing frames that were funded thanks to you!”

    With gratitude,

  • Resource/Sensory Room for Life Skills Support Classroom

    Funded Sep 3, 2021

Thank you so, very much for wonderful donations. The students in my classroom have been utilizing the tools and resources in their sensory room thanks to you! For example, a student came to school upset and exhausted. They had a hard time expressing themselves appropriately and after 15 minutes in resource room and time on the yoga ball with sensory sand and they were ready to talk. The student was able to come into a safe and calm space, gather his thoughts and talk through his issues.

When the sensory tools and resources were delivered to our resource room, my students had lots of questions fueled by excitement and surprise. We talked about where the resources came from and why people like you donate to help schools to be successful. As we opened every box, we discussed what the tool was and how to use it appropriately.

My next step to encouraging my students to be successful in their social and academic life is to translate the skills we are using the our resource room with the materials donated to the world outside of our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Walsh

My students work very hard to do their best every day. Sometimes their best means showing up to school with a smile on their face. Sometimes their best means coming to school even though they didn't sleep or eat the night before due to family/household trauma. This room will be used to meet their social and emotional needs throughout the day through sensory tools and activities. The students in my classroom need sensory breaks to allow for success in their academic and social life. I have seen how well sensory breaks work for my students. With the proper materials, my students can be much more engaged in their learning.
