Aloha! I'm asking for donations of any size to help my kids with their environmental project. I teach 8th grade math, 10th grade physical science and biology, trigonometry, and precalculus. Our school is a Hawaiian-focused public charter school that models place-, community-, and project-based instruction. Every week my co-teacher and I bring our 10th grade students out of the classroom and out into nature where we integrate our content areas into a year-long project in natural resource management and traditional Hawaiian arts. My goal is to develop rigorous place-based curriculum where I make my students think critically about the world they live in today and to be conscious and reflective people in order to find solutions for sustainability, global climate change, ocean acidification, and stewardship.
