Finally We Can Read Aloud Again!
Funded Aug 12, 2021Thank you so much for your donations to my first grade classroom this year. This has not been a normal year by any means, but we have been so fortunate to learn in person. This means that read- aloud time is BACK! Our schedule allows for us to have 15 minutes a day to sit on the rug together and read. The students greatly benefit from hearing a fluent reader. Many of them ask to read the books when I am done with them. It is amazing to see the joy and love they have for reading, I hope this sticks with them for the rest of their life! Thanks to your donations, 21 first graders look forward to read-aloud time everyday!”

Funded Sep 8, 2020This has been one crazy school year! Thank you so much for your support this year. My student's loved using the easel. We spent most of the year fully remote. In March, I welcomed back 6 students and by April I had 15 kids in person and only 2 online. I was able to use the easel to display model work, write stories and have student's come up and write. I am excited to have this for years to come! Thank you again for your support, it does not go unnoticed. I always love to tell my students how generous people gifted items to me, it is great to see their faces light up!”

Funded Dec 29, 2019Thank you SO much for supporting my classroom and funding our brand new rug! I wish you could have seen the look on my students faces when they walked in and saw it. We sat down and had a long talk about how many generous people (you) donated to our classroom. I told them about how you care about their education and you want them to feel loved and safe. I said we need to treat this rug with respect and really care for it. They agreed and I now watch them take ownership over the rug. They remind each other to sit nicely on the rug. When they are playing math games they remind each other to be careful with their expo markers. And when they come in from recess they remind each other to walk around the rug, so their shoes do not dirty it. A BIG thank you from me for not only providing a beautiful rug for my students to learn, but teaching them a lesson in ownership.
I am forever grateful for the amazing people like you who continue to donate to schools, teachers and students. Especially our students in Lawrence, you have no idea the impact you make on them. Please stay safe!”

Bringing our Curriculum to Life With Books!
Funded Oct 8, 2019I can't thank you enough for your time and generosity towards my first grade classroom. My students were overjoyed when I opened the boxes and pulled out each new book. We love The Bad Seed and The Good Egg. I think I have read those books to them at least 3 times, it never gets old!
I am also very excited to fill my book case with new books that represent each unit of study we are doing. I read these books to them and I also let the kids explore them, with one another. Personally, I believe that I must make my students love to read, and the way to do this is to let them find out what interests them. Once they find out what pulls them to books, they will have that lure for the rest of their life.
Thanks to you, we have plenty of new books to explore and ask questions with. You have made a difference in 22 first graders lives and a difference in a teacher who will never forget how kind you are.”

A Cozy Corner for My Firsties
Funded Nov 5, 2018Thank you so so much for your generous donations to my first grade classroom. I wish you could have seen the look on my student's faces when we received our packages. They LOVE having these new resources in our room. A huge plus, it makes reading even MORE FUN now!
When I first told my student's that kind people had donated to our classroom, I had a few questions from them. Asking why and how. I loved being able to explain that there are amazing and caring people all around the world who want to see them become successful learners.
My heart is so full, and every time I walk into my classroom and see our new rug and sit spots, I feel instantly overjoyed. Thanks to you, my students enjoy our classroom, they can collaborate and feel comfortable learning.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ulcickas
