My students are amazing! I teach in an autistic support classroom in a high needs school district. My students range from limited verbal range to being able to read on an 8th grade reading level. They are learning different skills in the area of behavior such as turn taking, socialization, and appropriate behavior for their age. One my students, is lucky enough to have played on the school's soccer team, which is a big step for socialization. Our program focuses on functional academics such as counting money, telling time, basic math facts, grammar, spelling, and reading comprehension. Besides functional academics, we stress community and vocational education. Our program helps students get ready for post secondary success outside of the classroom in many working experiences.
