An Invisible Thread

Your generosity, compassion, and kindness have impacted my classroom and students in a profound way. Results from your help and donations were far beyond what I had originally expected. Because of you, I was able to obtain a complete class set of the book, "An Invisible Thread", for my students.

Beyond this, I was able to actually get in touch with the author, Laura Schroff, and after some preparation and conversation, she was more than happy to agree to give a presentation to the school. The students gained so much from her visit. They were genuinely excited and will always remember that they had this special opportunity. Laura even stayed after her presentation to speak individually to the students and sign their books. They wrote reflections on this, and also verbally expressed their gratitude. The event really had an impact on them.

Before Laura's visit, I shared the website, Donorschoose.org, with my students. I went to my page and explained to the class how incredibly special it was that some friends along with complete strangers donated their own money to improve their education. I explained how profound of an act this was. I really wanted them to realize what a great and special contribution and opportunity they were experiencing.
